Before I start griping about the problems that I have with driving in this country, I'll like to clarify certain facts first.

I have been driving only for more than half a decade, and am only in my mid-twenties. So I guess on the experience scale I will probably rank myself in-between amateur and intermediate.

But having been travelled in a family car since I was four, and as a frequent cab user, I may actually have an idea or two on what I am blabbering about

When you are single, cab or public transport is no problem.

When you are attached or married, a car is useful but a "want" not a "need", you get by.

BUT:

When you have kids or your parents need care, a car will be very very useful, esp when you need to ferry the kids/parents to their caregivers while you work.

Is that a Volvo S60? 180bhp in line six cylinder? It is a four cylinder.

Hi LoverofCar,

Yes that is a facelifted Volvo S60, however, the above car was a 'prop' used for the picture and does not belong to me or my family.

Hi Pocus,

I totally agree with your point of view. As mentioned in my write up, for a single no commitment person, cabbing is absolutely perfect albeit with some minor drawbacks.

But if I were to write the same topic a decade down the road, now married with kids, the title would probably read "The best stationwagon for a family of four". Haha.

Thanks for reading!

I have a driving licence and I'd rather drives a car than take a cab in Singapore.

PHV drivers brought the heat up on pre-cooling off day

As everyone should know, today, 9th of July 2020 is the cooling off day for GE2020 and it so happened that the weather is pretty cool after the morning downpour.  That said, things were not so cool for these two Private Hire drivers yesterday.  As seen on Sg Road Vigilante, a video of two PHV drivers turning the heat up (for the wrong reasons) has been spotted.  No one knows what they they were fighting for but we can almost safely assume it is due to one of them not giving way to the other or something similar like that at this NEX taxi stand in Serangoon. It then seemed like a causally-dressed (weird) taxi driver tried to stop them. Kudos for him. What really amused us was the replies in the comments section. Check them out!

Kudos to our Special Operation Command for stopping this cyclist!

Our Circuit Breaker measures sure bring up quite a few weird incidents. I mean why would you even cycle in an expressway tunnel? As seen on ROAD.sg's website, it did seemed like someone cycled along our Marina Coastal Expressway on the 9th of April and was stopped by a Special Operation Command Police vehicle. As uncommon as it is to see a cyclist on an expressway, it is even rarer to see someone from the SOC stop a traffic offender as it is not part of their job scope. Kudos to the fellas for going the extra mile!  Even netizens on the facebook page were also grateful to police force! videoplayback.mp4

This is not how you keep your distance from others on the road

We know that all of us should be keeping a safe distance from each other in such times. But we reckon these guys that have been caught on video might have taken it abit too far. This video, as posted by SG Road Vigilante, shows a slow moving camera car (claimed to be doing 80km/h but it looks more like 60km/h to us) that was traveling on KPE towards TPE chancing upon a bunch or cars that were abit too keen to distance themselves from any traffic around them. Apparently this happened on the wee hours of 16th May morning and from what we can gather, the lead car is a R34 Nissan Skyline that zoomed past the camera car at a speed that seemed to double the legal speed limit of the KPE.  Its hard to tell from the video but other than the Skyline, we could also identify a few other cars including a Suzuki Swift, a Volkswagen Golf, a Volkswagen Jetta (that might have been the same guy that was charged for organising illegal street racing), a Mitsubishi Evo 9 and a couple of Honda Civics. Interestingly, most of the comments were attacking the camera car for being slow. We wonder why. On the other hand, there will always be keyboard warriors that come out with weird and silly comments like the example below... 95563179_890011821514718_986642270115562833_n.mp4

We do not encourage this, but here's how you can ride 'like a boss'

As the demand for food deliveries increase due to our current circuit breaker situation, it is only natural to see an increase in the amount of bikes fulfilling the food delivery demand.  Check out how this motorcyclist takes in a hard day's of work by riding in a relaxed manner on the road. Spotted by someone on the SLE on the 4th of May, this grabfood rider can be seen in the video with his legs crossed while using his mobile phone simultaneously. This is definitely not the safest way to ride but we doubt he is breaking any laws from doing so. That said, some of the comments by neitzens on SG Road Vigilante's page didn't agree and weren't so kind... What do you guys think?
