Honda sets lap records at five other european tracks
The Civic Type R's record for the the front-wheel drive car class at Nurburgring has been beaten recently by Volkswagen's Golf Clubsport S but that is not stopping Honda from conquering more records. It has just released news that its turbocharged hot hatch has achieved its goal of setting five more lap records across Europe.
Starting at Silverstone, British Touring Car Champion Matt Neal set a new lap record at 2:31.85 minutes before they head to Spa-Francorchamps, where Rob Huff clocked a lap at 2:56.9 minutes. Then in Italy, Honda's World Touring Car Championship driver Norbert Michelisz brought the hot hatch around Monza in an impressive 2:15.16 minutes. He also wrote the record for Hungaroring track with a a 2:10.85 minute lap time.
Lastly, WTCC series' safety car driver, Bruno Correia tackled Estoril and set a blistering time of 2:40.08.
According to Honda, all five attempts were made using a fully stock Civic Type R with no mechanical modifications and used street tires.
