blogentry-114362-0-21494300-1483070644_thumb.jpgSubaru and its official performance arm STI have an interesting concept based on the BRZ due for a reveal at the upcoming 2017 Tokyo Auto Salon.

The concept is called the BRZ STI Sport and is described as a more mature take on the Subaru sports car.

The only other information Subaru is willing to tell us right now is that the concept is fitted with 18-inch aluminum wheels and a handful of STI body enhancements, including a front lip spoiler and side skirts. For the interior, the designers have added a rich burgundy color.

The car will be joined by a second STI Sport concept based on the WRX S4. The WRX S4 is a more powerful, CVT-equipped WRX sold exclusively in Japan since 2014.

STI Sport is the name Subaru uses for models with a bit of extra potency under the hood and a few bolt-on parts from the STI catalog. It was first applied on the Levorg STI Sport introduced to the Japanese market in May. The two latest concepts suggest Subaru is ready to expand the STI Sport option to the BRZ and WRX lines.

The 2017 Tokyo Auto Salon runs from January 13-15 at the Makuhari Messe in the Chiba prefecture, east of Tokyo.

They can gold-plate it, put diamond studs on the headlamps, whatever. But nothing is gonna change the fact that it has a hamster on a wheel powering the pitiful little engine.

They need to put in the real 2.5 Sti engine..

Anything from the 2.0 DiT from the basic Rex to dumping a small Eaton TVS on it. Or put in some real NA screamer that does 10k revs.

Just stop this stupid kit/spring/wheels/colour feckoff specials.

if it achieve the fine balance as well as better power at 320bhp, it would be a proper coupe for hooning. else it would be a wannabe meant for all show and no go...

granted there are after mkt parts but toying with the legal side of things, I dont think we want to go there.

It's funny how ppl expect the brz to be another "wrx". Why do ppl want another "wrx"? What is the point of that? Why can't ppl accept what it is? Power isn't everything. Perhaps Subaru's turbo success is too much for ah bengz to move on and they ignore the fact that NA engine and light weight cars can be fun to drive too.

Brz is very much a "street car" whereby you do not need a lot of power to have driving fun on a daily basis, it's not like driving on track.

Forget what I've said. Ah bengz won't see the point.

IMO Subaru doesn't make the most looking cars but this one looks more like toyota bonnet and hyundai front grill.  Ok lah.

  • Carpark Review: Junction 8

Built in the 1980s, Bishan (or Bishan New Town) may not be one of the earliest housing estates in Singapore, but it was the first whose HDB architecture saw a departure from the more brutalist designs of the past and featured more variation in height and design.  Residents are primarily served by Junction 8, which opened in 1993. Now more than 30 years old, it remains the sole mall in the Bishan East area. Driving there? Here’s our quick review of the carpark.  Manoeuvrability: T
