Owner trades in five Toyota MR2 for a newer car
A retired college professor has traded in five first-generation Toyota MR2s in return for a barely driven 2016 Mazda MX-5.
As seen from an article published by TheDrive, this owner was tired of his collection of MR2s and traded them to Coad Toyota in Missouri.
Starting with the yellow unit seen in the photos, it was built in 1985 with a silver paint job and has since done 333,000km while the red one was built in 1986 with a fixed roof and has 225,308km on the odometer.
The next younger unit is the white one with 129,552km on its odometer. Built in 1987, it comes with an automatic gearbox. Also in white is a 1988 supercharged unit that has been driven for 126,334km.
The last example which is finished in Ice Blue Pearl, is built in 1989 and comes with a manual gearbox. It has just 45,000km on the odometer, making it the least driven unit of the pack.
After the dealer posted the sale on social media, car enthusiasts from all over United States contacted the dealer and as of last week, all except for the yellow one, had been sold.
When questioned on why the owner sold off his five classic Toyotas, he replied that he was tired of maintaining the MR2s and wanted something newer.
