What to do with neighbours who install loud exhaust systems for their cars

If there's something strange in the neighbourhood, who you gonna call?

Ghostbusters!

If there's something unbearable like the loud exhaust from an RX-8 (I think it’s an RX-8), who you gonna call?

LTA!

LTA takes your complaints seriously

In a post uploaded on SG Road Vigilante, a video and various images of 2 LTA officers checking out the undercarriage of an RX-8 has gone viral.

Here's the link to the long video (might take awhile to load because it’s 4mins+ long, I suggest skimming through the video).

The story behind this

Apparently, a "pek cek" (exasperated) neighbour could not take the sound of the car’s exhaust and made a complaint to LTA.

The neighbour even left a note for the owner of the car.

I can feel the passion from this comment.

Very interesting plot twist. I think the neighbour will have to lan lan suck thumb, wear earplugs.

-_- Err. LTA stands for Land Transport Authority.

If you want to complain

Have a neighbour with too much money and owns a car that disrupts the peace of the neighbourhood?

Call LTA @ 1800 2255 582

The officers will come down to investigate in no time.

Sometimes, its not about the exhaust. But the hao lian attitude. Come back must rev rev. Go stun must rev rev. KNN scared people dunno u drive a LJ sports car. My neighbour driving a BMW 525i is a classic example. Keep reving the LJ Supersprint Xos. Even the Lambo and Ferrari and the Evo X in my car park are better behave.

Ive also driven LJ Evo 9, X and Scooby, I did not do that for sure.

What so sporty with the exhaust making disturbing loud noise to others in the car parks? TP and LTA officers can spot these modified cars on the roads everyday. Such car should be sent for inspection twice yearly! Many are playing tricks with these illegal modified items removed before send for inspection, once done re-stall back all these illegal devices.

If the exhaust were actually legal, I think he should give a few more revs every evening to show his love and appreciation for the bao toh kia neighbour without the balls to put his details down to discuss it civilly first

My block beside main road... So one side is car park got loud exhaust, the other side main road also got loud exhaust.... And it's not just ramming the engine but the jokers actually sprint on the car park!

I think nothing beats the high pitch motorcycle exos going through the neighbourhood at night.

Thankfully this case is not the norm and most of the people who drives loud cars know basic courtesy to the neighbours, else can you imaging the rock concert going on in the car park of high end condos or landed properties? 🤣

Wah, this one must be arrested and have his car impounded. Maybe the other residents should submit their car recording to TP!

Next time I suggest that you take a golf ball, stuff it in the exhaust pipe. Hopefully, the exhaust manifold explode.

Totally agree.

Even waiting at traffic junctions also must rev, don't they know it only irritates people and all they get in karma is curses and not envy?

Why do u use 'ramming'and not reving? Ram is like literally copulating with the engine.

Really irritating when I have just painstakingly put the infants to bed and the car starts to roar in the car park.

Sg is long overdue a noise camera. Have been planning to write to ST forum on this. Sinkees are already the most sleep deprived on this planet. Just as they falling asleep, the roar of a modified motorbike or car jolt them awake. It affects our sanity.

These chaps must pay by having their rides impounded for a month + fine.

  • Is 'tiny living' really irrelevant in Singapore?

I discussed the possibility of living in tiny houses in Singapore in an earlier blog post. But as we know, it isn't an option to begin with – no thanks, of course, to our lack of land space.  Someone also pointed out that the idea of tiny houses is "romanticised" – which, I don't deny (but hey, that's why it's a dream). While it's clear tiny houses aren't going to work out here, the concept of 'tiny living' is; not just physically but also mentally. Anyone who has lived enough years lo
