LTA can come into your home to check on your car!

If you think your loud-sounding car is safe from the authorities just because you stay in a private property, you might want to think twice now.

A photo of a Ferrari 488 GTB being inspected inside someone's front yard has been circulating around in most car group chats over the last weekend.

From what we understand, it is almost unheard of for LTA enforcement officers to venture into a non-public area to inspect a car that might be flouting the laws. While we are unsure of the reasons while this particular Ferrari is being looked at, we reckon the reason might be neighbours who are unhappy about the loud exhaust noises emitting from the car.

On a side note, those who are in the know will wonder why the officer is looking under the car when its belly is all covered up...

Check out what neitzens on SG Road Vigilante have to say about this. Let us know if you agree!

Lesson learnt.

Don't buy loud car.

Actually, if the car is legal then the LTA can't do anything about it.

But the owner can give the bao toh kia neighbour a real "treat" for the next few days/weeks/months/years with a nice exhibition of how loud a legal exhaust on a supercar can be.

I would. Petty? IDGAF. 😂

This is what happens when people cannot be civil and approach others in person to make polite requests and insist on underhandedly and sneakily siccing the authorities on them. At that point, once "blood has been drawn", it's gloves off and even polite requests won't do crap. And CCTVs can easily be installed to deter any petty acts of vandalism in retribution. But it would be sweet to get that guy in trouble for that too, if he decides to take matters into his own hands.

Of course, all this presupposes legality. Otherwise, no leg to stand on, legally speaking. But that is why I take pains to make sure I remain legal. Legal can still be damn loud, depending on the car.

(As I mentioned in the main forum thread, I am blessed to live in a neighbourhood where neighbours are not only tolerant for the most part, but actually have supercars of their own, so we're all in the same boat).

Oh and the legal question of whether or not LTA can be refused entry into private property is still open. Good to have an answer on this. They can camp outside and wait for the car to enter public road, for all I care.

Unfortunately, the civil service only acts on complaints which explains why the overall standards are often so low. I won't be too quick to praise them for acting on complaints.

  • Carpark Review: Junction 8

Built in the 1980s, Bishan (or Bishan New Town) may not be one of the earliest housing estates in Singapore, but it was the first whose HDB architecture saw a departure from the more brutalist designs of the past and featured more variation in height and design.  Residents are primarily served by Junction 8, which opened in 1993. Now more than 30 years old, it remains the sole mall in the Bishan East area. Driving there? Here’s our quick review of the carpark.  Manoeuvrability: T
