What do you do when the lights turn amber? Do you floor the accelerator and hope to make it past, or would you depress the brake pedal and slow down like what your driving instructor taught? The driver of this black SUV probably hopes he had went with the latter.

Look what Netizens have to say of the incident...

These commenters actually have a good point, by keeping a safe distance and preparing to stop (slow down when approaching traffic junctions!), many accidents such as this can be avoided.

So, remember, keep a distance, stay sharp and always be prepared to stop, then you won't have to deal with the headache when your car looks like this.

I think this looks more like floor accelerator and hope to fly over the car in front

Otters nearly didn't get to live another day at Orchard Road crossing

Seen on Mothership.sg is a family of otters trying to cross Orchard Road near Plaza Singapura over the weekend. With more than 10 of them in the family, the leader of the pack tried a few times to cross the road despite the heavy traffic.  According to the article, the otters, which were squeaking, turned around twice as they realised it was not the right time to cross yet. We bet it must have been nerve-wrecking for everyone viewing this, especially the last part where a yellow CityCab taxi nearly couldn't stop in time for them. Thankfully, all of them made it across eventually.

BMW 5 Series driver loses control and flips car

Despite many manufacturers equipping their cars with many safety systems onboard their cars, they do not make the car immune to the laws of physics as we can see from these videos below. front.MP4 We got hold of these videos via some of the various random group chats that have been circulating it and from the looks of it, the accident happened earlier this morning (9 Jan 2020) while the roads were greasy from the drizzle over the day. We are not sure which part of the ECP highway this is but what is clear is that the camera car was driving at his own pace on lane 2 before (what looks like) a group of 3 BMW F10 5 series overtaking the camera car. Unfortunately, one of them lost control while trying to overtake his mates due to the last min abrupt weight transfer as he did the sudden lane change from 1 to 3. 44db9e47-1ba5-44ab-a4c2-1ad0dc8180cd.MP4 We have no idea if the DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) was turn off or was it too much even for the DSC to save in the first place? Kudos to BMW for building a decently strong car. Despite the seriousness of the crash, the car still looked like it held up pretty well. Anyway, with the recent rainy weather, do take extra care when on the roads and make sure your tyres have enough thread!

Man jailed and banned from driving because of a stomachache

TL;DR – A man has been jailed for seven weeks and slapped with a four-year driving ban for speeding, running two red lights, driving against traffic and failing to stop for traffic police. In his defence, he had a stomachache and needed to use the toilet. The next time you’re driving on the roads and ‘kena’ the-mother-of-all-stomachaches, the urge to floor the accelerator will naturally creep into your mind. But don’t do it. Just don’t. Video from SG Road Vigilante YouTube Traffic police chase a man with irritable bowel syndrome This incident occurred sometime in March 2019 in the wee hours of the morning. A man left the Marina Bay Sands Casino and drove towards his home in Jurong. He experienced a stomachache and went up to speeds of 180km/hr (while literally trying to keep his S#$% together) A traffic police officer spotted him after exiting the PIE towards Jurong Canal Drive and gave chase, but the man did not stop for them.   What other crap did he do? Pun intended. He ran two red lights and drove against traffic… twice. When the traffic police managed to pull him over, he had already crapped his pants. The police had to line the back seat of the police car with a plastic sheet before he was allowed to ride in it.   The punishment He has pleaded guilty to one charge of rash driving and failing to stop for a police officer. He will have to serve a seven-week jail term and a four-year-long driving ban. He will begin his jail-term on the 27th of January 2021 and is currently out on $15,000 bail.   Some interesting comments I mean, if you’re that desperate, anything is possible. Can you imagine the conversation in the cell? Cellmate: “Bro, what they catch you for?” Man: “Lao Sai” It sounds like you’ll suffer the next day.   Source - Today Singapore

Mercedes C-Class hogs sheltered driveway while it rains, lady in car behind explodes

Today on "Things you thought would happen but instead went differently", we have here 2 cars who both want to drop off and or pick up their passengers at some condominium. As some context to the title, the video was taken on 10 January 2021, and the weather has been pretty cool these past few days, slightly chilly even. So you might think the weather would perhaps let people have a bit more "chill" in their daily outlook on life too.   Oh, you naïve thing, you.    If there is one thing we can always count on, is that Singaporeans can almost always be counted on the overreact, grumble and whine about incidents that are perhaps inconsequential to most of us but of utter and outright importance to these snowflakes. So yes, the Mercedes is hogging the pick up/drop off point. Maybe the car behind the Mercedes did try to gain the attention of the Merc's occupants, but the occupants in the Mercedes perhaps didn't realise it. Either way, lady, do you really need to jump out of your car like your seat is on fire, brandishing your phone to record the offending party's "transgressions"? If you listen to the video clearly, the way the lady slams her door with such conviction like she's on a warpath while taking the video makes this writer feel like she's taking this issue a little too seriously. That said, the Mercedes isn't completely innocent either. Yes, we all know that you are waiting for someone to arrive before you go. But if the driveway only has so much space, just make a loop so you don't obstruct the car behind you. Let's be a little more gracious. No one likes getting wet unnecessarily, we all know that, but people don't exactly enjoy being delayed either. Give and take, live and let learn, you scratch my back I scratch yours, do you see where this is going? Also, lady in the Mercedes, your sarcastic tone does you absolutely no favours. Driving one loop to let others alight first burns a lot of petrol, is it. If you can afford a late-generation Merc, don't say you can't afford the cost of petrol.    As Mahatma Gandhi once said, "To lose patience is to lose the battle"   But to the lady who is recording this whole thing. Just, uh, wow. Very mature response there, auntie. Perhaps try talking nicely to people in the future if you want something, even if you are extremely irritated. It also helps if you don't actively try to film the whole incident down like some wannabe paparazzi. People don't like having cameras thrust into their faces without rhyme or reason. If the shoe was on the other foot, how would that make you feel? Also, auntie, please don't go and knock a car that isn't yours (1:28 in the video), people really don't like that. Don't cause more trouble than what you need for yourself because you never know how it could come back to bite you. It's incidents like this that makes this writer believe that no one actually remembers Singa the Courtesy Lion or the message he was trying to push.  Come on people, everything Singa stood for is literally in his name. It can't get any clearer than that. No wonder Singa quit, because no matter how hard he tried, perhaps he just could never get across to the kind of people in the video above 🤷‍♂️. Just chill, everyone. 2020 didn't kill us, and 2021 just started. A little patience never killed anyone. And also it is a little too premature in the year for over-the-top nonsense so let's all just try to get along for now. For now.
