Adaptive LED lights with matrix function

The LED head lights of the 5 Series now come with adaptive cornering lights and non-dazzling high beam with matrix technology so you always have a clear idea of what is happening on the road.

The system even uses info from the GPS to decide what levels of illumination are necessary, so you always get optimised lighting for every driving situation.

And for those who need greater illumination, BMW's Laserlight is now available as an option on all 5 Series variants.

The Laserlight system is capable of nearly doubling the range of the conventional head lights by emitting a non-dazzling high beam at speeds over 60 km/h, while also boosting the effectiveness of the low beam when driving on curving roads, ensuring you always have sufficient vision of the road ahead.

BMW's upgraded driving assistance feature now make driving through even congested roads as relaxing as settling into your favourite couch at home.

Lane departure warning now comes with lane return, for example, meaning that should you accidently leave the lane, not only will the steering wheel vibrate to give you an additional warning, but the car can also automatically steer you back into the lane itself.
Parking assistant
Equally impressive is the parking assistant feature, which allows the car to take over control of the accelerator, brakes and steering in order to deliver you a truly mindless parking experience, regardless of whether you're parking in a parallel or a perpendicular space.

And if reversing out of a dead end is too much of a chore, the 5 Series can do it all for you as well, thanks to its new reversing assistant, which constantly remembers your steering inputs when driving at low speeds so as to be able to trace back the exact line you last took. With the car helping you to get the steering angle just right, all you need to do is to control its speed and look out for any obstacles in its path.

Your home runs on electricity for emission-free power, and now the 5 Series can too. Well, nearly. With a plug-in hybrid drivetrain now being offered, you can whet your appetite for electric power while cutting down on your tailpipe emissions.

But those who don't have the option to charge from their homes need not fret. BMW is also introducing mild-hybrid technology so all can benefit from the efficiency gains of electrification.

The new tech means that even those who don't want the trouble of plugging in their car can still benefit from Brake Energy Regeneration, while getting a taste of the instantaneous torque that comes from an electric motor thanks to the electric boost effect of the 48V electric starter-generator.

You don't compromise on design at home and now you need not settle for compromises with the 5 Series as well.

Thanks to BMW's new 20-inch Individual Air Performance Wheels, those who are looking to specify larger rims on their executive sedan can do so while reaping added efficiency gains.

The new wheels achieve this by utilising innovative light-alloys and are designed to reduce the aerodynamic drag coefficient by around 5% compared to conventional rim designs, and mark the first time a carmaker has combined cast aluminium with aerodynamically optimised inlays into a single wheel.

    Comparison - Honda Vezel & Suzuki Jimny went head on! (This is not a car review btw)

    When coming to a car comparison, one of the most important aspect that we will mention is drivability. And today we have two goondus testings out the drivability at CTE on 1st of March. As you can see, the Honda Vezel make the first move at the start of the video cutting from the third lane to the second lane making the Suzuki Jimny braking hard. And with the ALLGRIP 4Wheel drive technology from Suzuki, it easily helps the Suzuki Jimny conquer the Honda Vezel back. As he is again on pole position. While not admitting defeat, the Honda Vezel instantaneously retaliate by activating its i-VTEC that unleash all 130bhp from the engine. Overtaking the poor ComfortDelGro cab and scaring the Suzuki Jimny with a Dom's stare. These two goondus had made the CTE their battleground lasting for more than 1min 30sec. Which fortunately there is no accident involved during this time. Watch the full video here.   I am assuming that these goondus have continued the dogfight even after they exited the expressway. For our readers out there, let bygones be bygones. Hatred breed hatred. So when there is a car cutting your lane, just be gracious about it. Let's keep our road safe and our car free from an accident! BTW, listen to the video with volume on, the dramatic background sound makes the video even funnier. 🤣

    Mercedes comes up with a unique style of U-turn by crashing through the centre divider

    Well kids, welcome to Monday, and to start a new week we have this video that is proof that not all crazy and or whacky events that take place in Singapore necessarily have to happen in Yishun. For once, the east gets to have its own slice of the action, right along East Coast Road.  To be frank, this writer likes the way the Mercedes looks. From the video, it looks to be a C-Class with some black wheels on white paint. Good combo. But that's where the good part ends. First of all, how were you driving to even make a u-turn at that spot anyway? Lest this writer forgets, "creating a space for a u-turn by crashing through the central dividing fence" wasn't in the basic or final theory handbook in driving school. If there was a recent addition like that, please let this writer know. It's a pity the video doesn't show how the Mercedes got themselves in that spot to begin with, but this writer will say that the driver is very determined to get his/her car out of that spot, despite all that expensive scraping noise that is sure to result in some interesting patterns and or damage for the undercarriage. Also, the Mercedes also completely ignored the man in a grey shirt who was walking towards the car, perhaps in a futile bid to find out what was going on or just to render some help. It is somewhat amusing to this writer that the Mercedes just accelerates away, leaving behind a mess of strewn metal fencing and a bevy of confused onlookers. Takes a real boss to do that, driving away nonchalantly with that "I can't be bothered with you lot" attitude. Here's hoping at least someone got the plate on that Mercedes as well, so that he can be asked...  But honestly people. Don't drive stupid. Almost everyone has a smartphone today and so many cars have dash cameras. Do something silly, stupid, idiotic or all of the aforementioned and you may stand a chance to appear here on this very blog. Or any of the associated Facebook pages dedicated to, uh, giving you your 15 minutes in the spotlight for horrendous driving.  And if that Mercedes driver does read this, would you care sending some photos over of how your undercarriage looks like now? Just for kicks.

    Unmarked Mazda 3 Traffic Police car nabs Malaysian bike

    Now this is one heartening sight! Our local police force is working hard to catch bad-behaving vehicles on our roads! Seen on SG Road Vigilante is this video of an unmarked Traffic Police vehicle zooming up fast on the AYE towards Tuas to catch a motorbike on 13th of December 2020. We can't really see why the bike was being stopped but according to the source, it is a Malaysian-registered bike with a mini rear number plate.  While having such a number plate is an offence in our sunny island, we thought the police might also be catching the biker for a speeding offence or having a loud exhaust. As for the rest of us, we now know when you see a white Mazda 3, it might not be a Private Hire Vehicle but an Unmarked Traffic Police car!

    Man prowls entire carpark and did extensive research on kerb weights after being denied season parking

    That's a really long wall of text, so I'll sum it up for you. The owner of a 2011 Mercedes Viano was denied a HDB Multi-Storey Car Park season parking with the main reason being the excessive weight (more than 2,000kg) of the vehicle.   So what does he do? He proceeded to spend some time checking out the various cars parked in HDB MSCP and came up with a short list of cars that weigh more than 2,000kg. If you look at this excerpt from HDB's website regarding the parking restrictions for commercial vehicles (the Mercedes Viano is predominantly used as commercial passenger buses), it is a straightforward rule that commercial vehicles parking in a sheltered car park must not exceed 2,000kg. With the rationale behind it being safety and environmental concerns as well as "efforts to preserve the character and ambience of residential estates"... Hmm, maybe HDB just find the Viano too ugly to be parked in a housing estate? In all seriousness though, this netizen has a point, this issue likely stemmed from outdated regulations. These regulations were probably established back when commercial vehicles weighing more than 2,000kg are agricultural behemoths.   Maybe HDB should look into updating its regulations? in the meantime, I suppose this guy should get rid of the Viano and get something else, like one of the cars he mentioned instead?
