Honda Shuttle takes a leap of faith and lane changes into a Truck

So today we have our weirdest accident where the Honda Shuttle (David) decidesĀ to lane change into the path ofĀ a UD truck (Goliath) that weighs 20 tons. šŸ™„

Here's the recap.

Both vehicles try to change lane at the same time. I assumeĀ that both drivers are aware of the other'sĀ presence and both must have the "same thinking".

Honda Shuttle: Aiyah, I can pick up faster than the truck one.

UD Truck: I am bigger and I am at the right of way.

After the accident occurred, the honda owner cameĀ out of his car probably to confront the truck driver.

My personal take is this. p.s. This is my personal opinion, so take it with a pinch of salt.

I find that the fault lies on the Honda Shuttle driver, as he wants toĀ avoid theĀ left turn laneĀ and he does not want toĀ wait forĀ traffic to clear beforeĀ move off.

The truck clearly signals his intention of filtering left since the start of the video. Just stop and let the truck driver go lah! So difficult meh?

Here's the full video.

So ladies and gentleman, please drive with extra prudence especially during this period, if possible stay home and stay safe.

Anyway sidetrack a bit, there is a nice ban mian at ARC380Ā  (where the accident takes place) very nice one. You guys can check it out. šŸ˜‚Ā NOT A SPONSORED POST.

Always give more clearance before cutting in front of a truck. The shuttle is at the truck's build spot.

The shuttle driver was well aware of the truck. In fact he hesitated and hung around in the mid-lane change position for a fraction of a second. That's what caused the collision. If he had daringly completed the lane change promptly without hesitation, then the truck would not have tried to lane-change as well.

As it is, the truck driver saw the other driver's hesitation and thought that he changed his mind.

  • Carpark Review: Junction 8

Built in the 1980s, Bishan (or Bishan New Town) may not be one of the earliest housing estates in Singapore, but it was the first whose HDB architecture saw a departure from the more brutalist designs of the past and featured more variation in height and design.Ā  Residents are primarily served by Junction 8, which opened in 1993. Now more than 30 years old, it remains the sole mall in the Bishan East area. Driving there? Hereā€™s our quick review of the carpark.Ā  Manoeuvrability: T
