3 vehicles flipped over in 3 separate accidents within 3 days

The new month had just barely started (it's only the third day of August!) and we already have three incidents of vehicles being flipped on their sides.

1: Truck flipped over after an accident on Shenton Way

While the details of the accident are still unknown, it appeared that the refrigerator truck or chiller lorry had collided with a second lorry before toppling over.

From the lorry's position in the video, it was assumed that both vehicles either tried to turn left into the junction or the chiller lorry was travelling straight before it hit the lorry, which was turning left.

An ambulance and multiple fire engines could be seen in the video as well, and we hope that all parties involved are alright.

2: Van flipped over after a collision on Geylang Road

An accident on Sunday (Aug 1) left a second van toppled over in the junction between Geylang Road and Sims Way.

From the video, a Silvercab was seen attempting to make a right turn at the junction when the white van (which was travelling at a high speed and was not on the right turn lane) made a reckless turn at the same time.

This resulted in the van tipping over from the force of the impact.

It was very obvious in the video that the white van was in the wrong and that the driver's reckless behaviour had put the lives of others (and his) at risk. Is it really that hard to follow the traffic rules? He wasn't even in the right lane to begin with.

3: Van flipped over after speeding accident on PIE

On the same day (Aug 1), another black van had flipped over after being involved in an accident along the expressway towards Tuas.

Like the first incident, there were not much details on what had exactly happened during the incident.

However, netizens believed that the vehicle might have been speeding down the road and failed to stop in time before colliding with a second vehicle.

TBH, what exactly are these vehicles made of? Even if the centre of gravity for these vehicles is higher, it shouldn't be that easy to flip a van or a lorry after a collision. It's scary to know that our vehicles are not as indestructible as we think they are.

I think it's harder to drive a van than a supercar.

The van got skinny tyres like chicken legs and is top heavy.

A supercar is so flat like pancake and wheels so wide like my smile.

Try doing 100 kmh on a wet road around a sharp bend in a van and in a supercar and I think your heart will be in your stomach more in the van.

:D

😄😄😄 I tried it before liao, more than 20 years ago when I was having this old Toyota Liteace, the gear shit was still by the side of steering model. It was I think 17 years old if I am not wrong. I was coming down from Sheares Bridge towards Fort Road at about 70kmh on a rainy day when a jam brake (caused by a rubbish ahead) makes me  spin 360 degrees and my face turned white. I was lucky there was no accident involved with maybe only one or 2 cars passing me☠️☠️

Last time those vans have the beeper when you reach 70kmh. But those days as we were so young, you don't slow cos you don't get caught lah. For many years liao. I don't speed or break any traffic rules anymore. Not even parking ticket cos you know the value of money liao

  • Is 'tiny living' really irrelevant in Singapore?

I discussed the possibility of living in tiny houses in Singapore in an earlier blog post. But as we know, it isn't an option to begin with – no thanks, of course, to our lack of land space.  Someone also pointed out that the idea of tiny houses is "romanticised" – which, I don't deny (but hey, that's why it's a dream). While it's clear tiny houses aren't going to work out here, the concept of 'tiny living' is; not just physically but also mentally. Anyone who has lived enough years lo
