$800,000 Mercedes G63 gets chased by a Volkwagen van, rear-ends a stationary Honda Vezel at a red light

It is not every day you get to see the legendary Mercedes G63 in Singapore.

And it is even rarer to see one involved in an accident.

Watch it here:

What Happened?

A Mercedes G63 and a Volkswagen Transporter 'chiong-ed' along Yishun Ave 8 upon the red traffic light signal turning green.

Its 4.0-Litre Bi-Turbocharged V8 engine and all-wheel-drive drivetrain instantly picked up speed.

Directly behind the G-wagon was the Volkswagen Transporter.

Although the specs of the Volkswagen Transporter is not anywhere near the G-wagon, it is still pretty decent (2.0-Litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged paired to a 7-speed DCT transmission).

And surprisingly, the Volkswagen Transporter was hot on the G-wagon's heels (Yes, I know. The G63 driver probably did not step hard on the accelerator).

As they approached a red light, the G63 driver could not react in time and slammed hard into a stationary Honda Vezel.

The impact was forceful enough to push the Honda SUV across the stop line.

Some debris were also scattered across the road due to the accident.

And yes. Both cars' repair costs are just going to be loose change to the G-wagon driver.

Its not about the equipment, its about the driver🙂

Speeding in a G63 is not satki anymore. There's a time and place for everything.

From what i see,the G63 keep looking into his Rear View or Side Mirrors until never notice a Red Light in front...thus crashed.

The G63 driver not paying attention, didnt realise the van just behind him on the right. He probably wanted to change to right lane at the traffic light. Realised the van was there. Indecision, didnt brake in time for the traffic light.

it is ok lah. The driver is rich, she will buy a new vezel to give to the crashed vezel, with free servicing for 5 years. got MONEY, NO PROBLEM IN SG🤣

I think more like 100% settle the Vezel's repair cost😂

Yup, this is not your regular G-class SUV (Eg. GLA, GLB, GLC, GLE) - Its a performance SUV. And not only is the price tag expensive, insurance and road tax ($3920/year) also very chor.

I feel the driver too panicky… should stick to lane2 instead. Drive slowly ….

Being able to  afford a G63 is a strong statement by itself,  letting  alone the power under the hood, why bother with a van ?

This G63 stays around me, I think. Often see it parked at my shopping haunts.

  • Carpark Review: Junction 8

Built in the 1980s, Bishan (or Bishan New Town) may not be one of the earliest housing estates in Singapore, but it was the first whose HDB architecture saw a departure from the more brutalist designs of the past and featured more variation in height and design.  Residents are primarily served by Junction 8, which opened in 1993. Now more than 30 years old, it remains the sole mall in the Bishan East area. Driving there? Here’s our quick review of the carpark.  Manoeuvrability: T
