Was this incident filmed in a bad context?

Or was the Volkswagen driver attempting to evade parking fees?

Watch the following video here:

What Happened?

When approaching the carpark gantry to exit, the Volkswagen Golf driver stopped right before the gantry arm and alighted from his car.

He then proceeds to push the gantry arm such that it automatically lifts. Allowing him to get into his car and escape paying a sum of $5? It's a little blur but it's definitely less than $10.

Update #1 - 14/4/2022

Many netizens have pointed out that this might be a case of the gantry operator instructing the VW driver to lift it up due to a spoiled gantry.

Well, that may be possible.

What do you think?

Maybe? Or there might be lots of honking around the area which prompted the contributor to film the video.

Hard to tell since some car sharing platforms don't label their name on their cars.

Walao, whoever posted this can don’t anyhow before you get POFMA’d.

There’s always 2-sides of the coin. Maybe the operator on the other side of the gantry speaker told him to do it if he wasn’t able to do it? Sometimes the servos of the gantry fail. So he was told to open it as a very last resort?

Think it through. You wouldn’t like getting falsely framed or having someone you know or love also framed for being told to do something that seems illegal in the eyes of a 3rd party now would you? Just live and let live.

If he did something wrong, the gantry cameras there would capture and have his information already. If it was a platform-sharing car, the owner of the car can just report to the platform to the relevant authorities.

Or y’all just doing it for the sake of $10?

Why people always think got car = got bottomless bank account?

It just means more debt, more taxes, more fees, more maintenance costs...poor drivers have to look for all means to save.

Because, apparently, most people nowadays live for shaming strangers on social media. Can't sleep well without it.

  • Is 'tiny living' really irrelevant in Singapore?

I discussed the possibility of living in tiny houses in Singapore in an earlier blog post. But as we know, it isn't an option to begin with – no thanks, of course, to our lack of land space.  Someone also pointed out that the idea of tiny houses is "romanticised" – which, I don't deny (but hey, that's why it's a dream). While it's clear tiny houses aren't going to work out here, the concept of 'tiny living' is; not just physically but also mentally. Anyone who has lived enough years lo
