There have been quite a few French cars tested recently over at SgCarMart recently and those of you who cannot get enough of anything French, I am glad to report that I had a spin in a 2010 308 VTi 1.6 quite recently.

This car has been around since 2008 and for SG$100k, gives you a whole lot of car for the money. The 308 1.6 I drove is a Malaysian specced car. Which only lacks the glass roof of the one sold in Singapore. Over in Singapore, you'd get a panoramic glass roof, dual zone air-conditioning, 16 inch wheels on 205/55/16 tires and the big smiley mouth to go with it. It has so happy a face that Peugeot recently changed its design philosophy a tad bit. Do a search on the Peugeot SR1 concept to see the changes in design philosophy.

The only difference this 120bhp normally aspirated 1.6 liter Vti has compared to the 1.6liter THP Turbo are the turbocharger that pushes out 140bhp but 240Nm of torque instead of 160Nm and that the rims on the Turbo are 17inches in diameter with 225/45/17 tires. The rest is pretty much similar and the interior looks like it is built better than French cars from the early 2000s or before. In those days, especially pre1990s, French cars usually will have those useless bits of trim falling off leaving only the funcional items behind for the driver to use. All the more better if you intend to go racing in one

Dear MCF members,

I've driven a Peugeot 405 before, no resale value for Peugeot. I may be wrong. Anyhow, I must agree the french produces stylish cars. The design and specs are great! The finishes are first class.

My 2 cents worth.....thanks

Accord driver goes bersek and lets camera car rear end him

After watching this clip that was spotted on SG Road Vigilante, we can't help but see the importance of being able keep our own temper in control. Losing one's temper is easy and when not kept in check, you might end up doing something you will regret in the future. Shot on the evening of 26th of September 2020 along Central Blvd, a Honda Accord can be seen in the video cutting in from the left of the camera car at high speed before slamming onto its brakes real hard. The camera car, which itself seems to be going along at quite some speed, could not stop in time and crashed into the Accord as the result. While no one can confirm the Accord driver's intention, it is almost safe to say that he just wanted to let the camera knock into him by braking hard to a stop for no reason. As it was a slight bump, no one was hurt. The Accord driver then got out calmly and proceed to take some photos. So guys, what do you reckon? Is this part of a road rage incident which the camera car's footage did not show? Or is it an insurance scam? Or is it a combination of both? Let us know in the comments below!

Bentley slams into the rear of a Honda City, leaving many to speculate on just what the Honda driver was doing!

Some people don't deserve to drive. Watch the video below and see whether you agree with our harsh comment or not. Posted by My Grandfather's Road, another traffic-shaming facebook page, is this video of a Honda City that almost came to a complete stop while on the first lane of the ECP.  It is unclear how long ago this accident happened as the in-car camera video dates the incident on the 27th of Dec 2019 but the post was published today, 22nd of July 2020. We have no idea why the Honda driver attempted to slow down. Could it be that he or she realised that there is an exit and wanted to turn off at the last minute?

PHV drivers brought the heat up on pre-cooling off day

As everyone should know, today, 9th of July 2020 is the cooling off day for GE2020 and it so happened that the weather is pretty cool after the morning downpour.  That said, things were not so cool for these two Private Hire drivers yesterday.  As seen on Sg Road Vigilante, a video of two PHV drivers turning the heat up (for the wrong reasons) has been spotted.  No one knows what they they were fighting for but we can almost safely assume it is due to one of them not giving way to the other or something similar like that at this NEX taxi stand in Serangoon. It then seemed like a causally-dressed (weird) taxi driver tried to stop them. Kudos for him. What really amused us was the replies in the comments section. Check them out!

Cyclist thinks he has the right of way, but netizens flame him

Now this will probably open up a can of worms or two. Who do you reckon is in the wrong? The cyclist or the driver of the Audi? Filmed by the cyclist on 5th of July along mandai road, a white Audi A1 could be seen pulling out of a small lane and into the path of a cyclist who was doing less than 30km/h on his bike. According to the source SG Road Vigilante, the guys there reckoned the car did not notice or did not care about the cyclist, barely cutting him off. What do you guys think?  Was it a close call or an error on the part of the Audi driver? Or was this a simple case of the cyclist letting his ego take control of him and not riding defensively for his own safety?
