Why I bought Fanta Orange and hand carried it back from Germany
- The curious case of the European Fanta -
I paid 5 Euros for a small 500ml bottle of Fanta Orange and brought it on my carry-on bag, on a 13+hours flight to bring it back to Singapore. You might be wondering why; after all we can get Fanta Orange in Singapore - it's a Chinese New Year staple!
BUT NO! European Fanta is DIFFERENT! From its colour, to its taste, the European Fanta is unique and better, and I would say it tastes closer to Origina (which is like the best fizzy orange drink that you can buy).
Here's a photo of the European Fanta I bought at the airport in Frankfurt, along with a tasty Currywurst!
One standout feature of the European version is its more natural taste. Made with a higher juice content, European Fanta offers a vibrant orange hue that mirrors real orange juice. This authentic flavour and colour are reflections of local preferences and regulatory standards across different countries, making it truly unique compared to the familiar American version, which is similar to what we get here in Singapore. Apparently, the American Fanta Orange uses high fructose corn syrup while the European one uses cane sugar.
And European Fanta can't be found in our region, not as far as I know of at least. Hence, every time I find myself in European countries, I would make it a point to get some Fanta Orange. So, those of you going to Europe to holiday, remember to try their Fanta Orange! Or, if you want to buy some back to pass to me, I'll gladly accept as well!
