Europe: Hyundai Motor Group overtakes Toyota in sales
Hyundai Motor Group has sold more cars than Toyota in Europe during the first 10 months of 2010, overtaking the popular Japanese brand as the leading top Asia brand in the continent.
Hyundai and Kia sold a combined 521,369 vehicles during the first 10 months of 2010 according to date from the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association. Toyota with Lexus brand has a combined sales figure of 511,754, down 17 percent over the same period last year. Hyundai Motor Group has seen its market share in Europe rise to 4.5 percent for the period while Toyota experienced a reduction in market share from 5 percent to 4.4 percent Year on Year.
The Korean automaker has done well in the slumping European market, keeping demand going with popular models such as the Hyundai ix20, the i30, ix35 SUV and the Kia Cee'd hatchback.
