Acemundo Supercharged September 5, 2005 Share September 5, 2005 Hi guys, Any idea what is the difference between these 2? Read that VW's new version of golf is the first car that will combine both technology. ↡ Advertisement
Genie47 1st Gear September 5, 2005 Share September 5, 2005 Supercharger is a belt driven compressor. Turbocharger is an exhaust driven compressor.
Acemundo Supercharged September 5, 2005 Author Share September 5, 2005 got pics to share? a bit difficult to visualise. or got url on such write up to share?
Genie47 1st Gear September 5, 2005 Share September 5, 2005 Mark Wan's Autozine's technology page will provide answers. This combination of SC and TC has been done before on the Lancia Delta S4. The car is so powerful and so evil, it killed 4 drivers on the Group B Rally series.
Acemundo Supercharged September 5, 2005 Author Share September 5, 2005 okie, i do a search on mark wan and autozine. haha.then the article said the wrong thing leh, that the golf is the first to combine both technology.
Genie47 1st Gear September 5, 2005 Share September 5, 2005 The combination of both SC and TC for FI purposes is damn dangerous and very difficult to tune. The S4 caught fire easily and was also very powerful. SC for the low end and TC for the high end. The SC turns off when the TC comes on.
Acemundo Supercharged September 5, 2005 Author Share September 5, 2005 o i c, so each got their own speciality. wah so despite this, the golf with this technology shld still be greeted with caution.
Genie47 1st Gear September 5, 2005 Share September 5, 2005 But you must know the S4 then was from the 80s. It is now the new century with new electronics. Golf's FI mating could be good. We will see.
Seaweed 1st Gear September 5, 2005 Share September 5, 2005 ha ha....dangerous...what if the SC is not cut off before the TC kick in due some electronics/machancis going crazy...car explode ??
Acemundo Supercharged September 5, 2005 Author Share September 5, 2005 why will simultanoues operation of tc & sc result in explosion?
