Wintersonata Clutched January 17, 2003 Share January 17, 2003 The "S Auto" pricing is very close to entry-level Corolla LX 1.5.... By the way, what is the engine capacity?
Eyke Supercharged January 17, 2003 Author Share January 17, 2003 1.5L, using same engine as 1.5 Corolla, ie. 1NZ-FE
Wintersonata Clutched January 17, 2003 Share January 17, 2003 Hummm... then that means it's only about $3k cheaper than corolla..... Not that huge of a difference loh.... Think it would appeal to people dunt want the common look of Corolla on the road loh...
Jagash Neutral Newbie January 17, 2003 Share January 17, 2003 At these prices, Corolla offers better value and resale.
Kylelam77 Neutral Newbie January 17, 2003 Share January 17, 2003 I agree with u. Its kinda ex for a made in thailand. Perhaps prices would fall. Then again, my opinion is biased. juz bot a corolla......
Car_guru Neutral Newbie January 18, 2003 Share January 18, 2003 Today's Life motoring reported that the Toyota plant in Thailand is the best... so it's not too bad...
Wintersonata Clutched January 18, 2003 Share January 18, 2003 Well, i think that's what the manager of the Thai plant claims loh.... "Old Wang sell melon, self claim melon good"....

Kylelam77 Neutral Newbie January 19, 2003 Share January 19, 2003 I'm currently driving an old civic. Love the car actually cos its engine is still pretty good. Waiting for the arrival of the G9 FL.
Car_guru Neutral Newbie January 19, 2003 Share January 19, 2003 Yah... Guess we've gotta accept thailand-made cars since they're here to stay...
Koolaba 1st Gear January 19, 2003 Share January 19, 2003 Dear Guru, Have u seen or test driven e car? I certainly prefer Vios' styling over the G9 Corolla. The base Vios seems to be more value for $ compared to e Corolla LX
Wintersonata Clutched January 19, 2003 Share January 19, 2003 Agreed loh.... As singaporean get more and more cost-oriented, our distributors have no way of lowering the cost of importing jap-made cars, therefore thai-made cars helps to reduce the pricing and at the same time maintaining their current margins..... Jagash Neutral Newbie January 19, 2003 Share January 19, 2003 Don't believe everything that is written. Honda City from Thailand is exported back to Japan. If Vios out from Thailand better than those of Toyota Japan, then why not export it back to Japan. Why sell to other part of Asia only??? Cheers! Super7 Turbocharged January 19, 2003 Share January 19, 2003 It's still a good sign that both TC and BM are bringing in cheaper versions (not necessarily drastically inferior) to let buyers have a wider choice..... juz hope that the price gaps between Thai-made models and that from Japan can be wider..... Cheers

Acemundo Supercharged January 20, 2003 Share January 20, 2003 Dear Guru, Have u seen or test driven e car? I certainly prefer Vios' styling over the G9 Corolla. The base Vios seems to be more value for $ compared to e Corolla LX Yesterday I passed by HMV. They set up a booth there. Personally I find the car quite ok except for the backseat being too cramped. The shape looks better than the corolla. The rear looks a bit like a compressed Cefiro. The door does not feel thin like many Jap cars. But still find it expensive for a Thai made car. I think it will drop after the initial euphoria. ↡ Advertisement
