Interesting. I got quoted rrp4999 before trade-in, for 20" bathurst rims and 20" Michelin Pilot 4 SUV's.  Got $1k off after trade in where stock wheels are 18" with Toyo's.

Given I've seen 20" Michelins sell for $520+ each, I figure the price wasn't so bad.

I’ll say your deal is not bad given that yours a 20”, mine is 18” with f1a5(don’t like ps4 due to the noise, since I won’t really fully utilise the potential of the tyre)

Unfortunately tyres like the f1a5's don't come in the right sizes for an SUV.  But I'm happy to go with the Michelins as they come highly rated amongst SUV summer tyres.

Koya Semi Forged rims. wonder how many people have heard of this brand before.. 19x8.5 +35 245/35R19

was a bit skeptical but they provided custom offset and pcd so easier for me to clear caliper. good balance between fully forged and flow formed. also, lighter than my previous set of konig ampliform. same size and width but different offsets.

The Konig Hypergrams are lighter. On paper it says 8.4kg, but actual is 7.7kg (For the 18's)

Got drive carefully around road kerbs for 225 tyres on 8.5j rims..

i have kerb rash on my Rays 18x8.5 with 235/50 and previous 235/55 tyres.. 8.5 rims best match with 245 tyres, or even 255.

I would go for 7.5j rims for 225 tyres.. max 8j if choose to go wider 235

My views only no offence intended

Finally got my wheels.

Was expecting Michelin Latitude 3's or Ps4 SUV's, but was given Michelin PS4S's.

Not complaining.

I see many upgrade from stock 195/65R15 to 215/45R17 or 225/40R17

Looks cool, but you must be prepared for a harsher ride, higher fuel consumption, sluggish performance and accelerated wear & tear to your shock absorbers & springs, and engine mountings, plus a much more bumpy ride due to the thinner tyre side walls.

Think about this - the 2000cc Volvo 240 uses 185/65R14 stock tyres. Why would a 1600cc require ultra broad 225/40R17, at the expense of the setbacks mentioned above?

https://carfromjapan.com/article/industry-knowledge/pros-and-cons-of-bigger-wheels-in-car/

Apparently some pros to using bigger wheels. I thought if the offset and alignment properly done, the effects are not so bad. Probably the bigger fuel consumption if overal weight heavier than stock.

1. Improved Grip and Traction

Usually, the large and wide tires have more rubber on their track. This simply indicates that the car’s tires can make a better contact with the road, thus offering better grip and traction. In other words, it allows the better car handling.

Note: The bigger and thinner wheels offer more traction on snow.

2. Improved Cornering

Bigger car wheels result in more road-contact, wider thread, and stiffer sidewalls. And, with all these attributes, large size wheels directly contribute to better cornering and handling.

3. Better Braking

As discussed earlier, cars on big rim have more contact patch and grip on the road. So, if you install large-size balanced tires (in simple words, not too hard or too soft tire) in cars, these will surely give a fair performance by reducing the braking distance.

4. Better Appearance

Tires have a significant role in the overall design of the vehicle. For instance, replacing the old low-profile tires with the bigger alloy wheels can give it more of a sporty look. Thus, upsizing the vehicle’s tire can add heaps of design benefits.

actually i see design based on car shape. my mazda 3 is very similar in shape to my previous E90. therefore i feel those rims suits it. as for raijin, i still see it on their website leh..

unless they have seperate factories. and depends where your supplier gets it from.. wanted to go autobacs this trip but sadly didn't have time.. 😞 one thing i find about enkei is that most design i want don't have my size. a lot of 17 and 18 but rarely with 19..
