Cttan hows ur car so far?

Sorry for the late reply, was very busy.

No problem so far!

I won't go into those things we already know about the characteristics of the car.

Over the past few months I was busy furnishing an apartment and made dozens of trips to Ikea and this little car could swallow loads of things. Single and queen bed frames, queen sized and single spring mattresses, 1.8m tall bookshelves and wardrobes, washing machines. study desks, 8 feet long bamboo poles...yep, transported all those.

It can take anything up to 2.5m long provided they are thin and flat. Rear seat fold flat and the hatchback is so useful.

And it transported all those things with all 5 doors fullly closed. No need to close the doors partially and tie with strings.

Now that I have converted my car to OPC my yearly depreciation is 2k and compared to 3.5k when it was normal plate. Go look at SGcarmart and see if you can find a cheaper car. There are so many things that you can do with a car that bus, mrt and taxis cant do. Like buying bulky items from several destinations - how the heck are you gonna do that without a car? Go green my foot!

There are a couple of minor issues that came with this car that I haven't bother fixing:

- Front engine mount worn

- gearbox oil leak but solved by topping up with SAE 90 periodically

- AMT still a bit jerky at times but I think that could be inherent. Need to try others to confirm. Still prefer full manual

- remote locking sometimes don't work but never mind just use key to lock

Hi bro the gearbox oil is that the red color liquid? (ATF / AMT oil) my car is also leaking that and mech in jb advised is due to leaking clutch pump. I have ordered the parts with them. My QQ is also a bit jerky in the lower gears. Im next going to do these repairs:

Clutch pump - rm1400 + rm240 (labour)

Rear absorber set - rm360

Input shaft speed sensor - rm280 +rm200 (labour)

2 rear tyres michelin xm2 - rm 420

A bit worried to see the red AMT oil leaking every day as I was told that if it really runs out will nt be able to engage gear so am gg to try to fix it for peace of mind.

All in all still much cheaper than getting normal car out there as i got the car for 7.5k for 26months usage (ROPC) and min parf of 1.4k.

"Does spark plug cable do any changes to the ride? I heard of some guys saying it does. What kind off diff can u feel anyway?"

the stock spark plug cable is 7mm and according to other forum is the cause of jerking when engaging 1st and 2nd gear in my car due to insufficient voltage or somthing else(leakage?) due to the stock cable

after changing it to 10.8mm spark plug cable which include grounding, the jerking disappear

i also change to denso iridium spark plug, can feel engine is smoother and quieter

look at my cable http://tinyurl.com/4ejnfcl

Hi can share where you did the thicker spark plug cable and cost as well? I trying to do for mine (same car QQ 1.1 311) but my mech looked at my current cables n remarked tt they are quite new so he discouraged me from doing which i believe should be good as he trying to save my $$$.

On a side note any Chery QQ drivers out there want to start a FB page so we can share information easily? Or if there already is one can add me please?

Bro, this car uses a manual 5 speed gearbox with clutch but unlike a full manual the speed selector aka selespeed  operates the clutch and changes gears for you. 2 types of oil are used. First the gearbox uses normal manual gearbox oil i.e.SAE 90 . Second the selespeed uses Dexron 3 ATF or Selespeed oil

SAE 90 is straightforward but the selespeed oil is a completely different animal...there are loads of discussion on this in Alfa forums because they have used this system far earlier than others since the 156...ATF is red but selespeed oil is colourless. From what I read,Tutela  CS speed oil is the original oil used many had used ATF. Some even said that their car used ATF from day1.

My oil leak is fortunately the gearbox oil. You should go to an experienced machanic to determine which oil is leaking. Gearbox ( sea90) or selespeed. (atf)?

To repair the leak for either is expensive so I chose to top up periodically since the leak isn't too bad.

Anyway after you have replaced the clutch pump I hope that solves the problem. Keep us posted

Here is my feedback after a few months of driving a 7 years old chery QQ 0.8.

After driving for a few weeks, I experienced this jerking issue between gear 1-3 whenever I release throttle and went to Soon Xing Engineering Pte Ltd to fix.

Since many workshops I went had mentioned this as gearbox issue, Soon Xing told me it's clutch problem and will cost $1k for this repair.

I took their trust since it is still cheaper than replacing a whole gearbox which they quote $1.8k but $2-3k at other workshops.

Send in my car on Sat and only got it back on Thursday, partly because Sun is off day and Mon was labor day.

The jerk issue was no longer there, but my car speaker and door handle spoil. I am a meticulous person and I noticed the interior was badly done where dirts can be seen, wiring and carpets covering them are in a total mess.

The car speaker quality have degraded greatly since I am the type that enjoy music a lot while driving my car(One of my reason why I buy a personal car at a low budget price).

So for the rest of the drivers out there, do share with me where I can get these 2 issues fixed, or should I demand them to fix at my convenient. I stayed in the east and travelling there because the way they handle my car just make me piss off.

One more thing, is it even ok for them to scratch off my chassis sticker(tagged with serial number)

I experienced 2 types of jerking with the AMT gearbox.

First type is a slight jerk during upshifts from gear 1,2 and 3

Second type is violent jerking lasting 2 seconds when I release the throttle from gear 3,2 or 1

The second type was fixed when Vertex did a gearbox software calibration which they refer to "clear error codes"

I didn't fix the first problem because its a minor jerk and since my engine/gearbox mounting is worn I think that could be the cause of it. Anyway, I'll wait till I'm free to change the mountings. Planning to go to the JB workshop that another bro went to.

For software issue its best to go to Vertex as they have the original equipment specially from the Chery to fix it

The part which bro Zheng changed is the clutch assy which can be seen at this link

http://cherylist.com/CHERY-QQ-SWEET-CLUTCH-AND-FLY-WHEEL-87487.aspx

Im also experiencing the 1st type of slight jerk during gear change upshift from 1 to 3. Id like to try bro Zheng car to feel the difference. Btw checked with JB mech he quoted rm1200 for the part plus labour. Only downside is have to put deposit for them to order the part first and wait about 1 to 2 weeks for the part to come.

Anyone here tried to buy parts from app Ezbuy (from taobao)? I saw bosch brakepad for qq3 and also discbrake seems tempting to try

Mine is AMT. Too bad Im not able to proof, as it was late and they waited for me to collect the car. I fetched the lady who work there and drop her off somewhere nearby after i went to withdraw cash to pay her. she even told me it was ok when she grab the car handle that day, so what else could i argue back based on that? Plus they told me they only repair the clutch and never touch on other areas, so i guess i have to count myself unlucky for such thing to happen out of "no reason"

Thanks for sharing! Ive heard of vertex, but couldnt find the workshop in ubi, i search on google map it is beside the driving centre, but there are no sign to show it is vertex so i didnt head in to check. Anyone can confirm that location for me? I still faced some jerk once a while even after the clutch replacement

The entrance is from Ubi Road 4, you need to turn in and enter from the "back" as the showroom side has no entrance..

Just like what Hamburger mentioned, go to an audio shop and let them check. It might just be a loose connection or something. Last time my radio will turn off itself when I go over bumpy surfaces, and it was due to loose contacts.
