Robin1_sg Neutral Newbie August 9, 2006 Share August 9, 2006 (edited) Crossover with inductors causes a lag, while capacitors causes a lead. Phase is referring to the angular difference between the current and voltage. Also, when the crossover is on the slopping down, it is referred to as negative going phase, while sloping upwards is a positive going phase. So, there r two types of phases here. Don't confuse yourself with the delay done in digital domain, i.e. TA. Also, there is no such thing as phase inversion in waveforms amalgations as long as the speakers are firing in the correct phase with the same axis i.e. if none of the speakers are installed in an inverted manner. If there is a slight delay in arrival timings, that will cause sound diffusion due to different timings causing your ear to hear blurred focus, not phase delays. There maybe some attenuation or increase in some frequencies due to in car acoustics properties and waves bounced off but not enough to invert or delay the fundamental phases. Arrh..spare me the technical details. Edited August 9, 2006 by Robin1_sg ↡ Advertisement
Wankie Clutched August 9, 2006 Share August 9, 2006 try bridging your amp to drive the fronts if you find it a bit underpowered.
Sarong1 1st Gear August 9, 2006 Share August 9, 2006 I think Esunny is using his amp to drive front and rear. That is pretty straining on the amp...more so if it is in bridged mode. Esunny, you using one amp for all?
Wankie Clutched August 9, 2006 Share August 9, 2006 oh right... could be worth a try anyway, the HU shld be ok to drive the rears. i've unbridged my audison and i find it lacks juice, will pbly bridge it back when i do my cable surgery
Sarong1 1st Gear August 9, 2006 Share August 9, 2006 Does the amp get real hot in bridged mode?? 8650 has a pre-amp of 50W x 4, maybe Esunny can try pushing the rear speakers with the HU like what Bro Wankie has recommended, while concentrating all the firepower from the SRx on the frontal... If still not juicy, waste no time...this is a solid excuse to get another amp
Wankie Clutched August 9, 2006 Share August 9, 2006 If still not juicy, waste no time...this is a solid excuse to get another amp you sibeh tok back to the amp discussion, the amps do run a bit hot but i don't think it shld cause too much of a concern. Sarong1 1st Gear August 9, 2006 Share August 9, 2006 If an amp needs to work doubly hard, that will mean the battery will be strain as well...
Hyun Neutral Newbie August 10, 2006 Share August 10, 2006 thanks for the reply, Robin! i knew there was something lacking in my understanding of phase. i never understood this current voltage angle thing.
Robin1_sg Neutral Newbie August 10, 2006 Share August 10, 2006 For your quest of knowledge on angular phases, vectors and how inductors and capacitors behave, see here: http://www.bcae1.com/compleximpedance.htm Quite a fair bit to decipher. Hope you can understand, if not you can print it out and then I explain to you if I do join any of you guys meetup.

Esunny Neutral Newbie August 10, 2006 Share August 10, 2006 hi bro sarong, thanks for sharing. i din know that a difference of say 0.5cm can affect the soundstage that much. perhaps really need to listen to more setup to feel the experience. actually i did suggest to bridge the four channel into two to support my CDT HD but that A****E*** shop told me it cannot be done. i dun really buy that but as you know when they insist it cant and give you that attitude what can one say. currently the gain is at 11 o'clock.
