Sgr1 Neutral Newbie January 12, 2007 Share January 12, 2007 actually, higher grade petrol shouldn't give you better mileage cos you squeeze more petrol into your engine for a bigger combustion. That is theoretically... But for some strange reason, Shell 95 is giving me worse fuel consumption than Shell 98... ↡ Advertisement

Rairai Neutral Newbie January 12, 2007 Author Share January 12, 2007 With GST increasing, effectively we are still forking out the extra 10% and being tax for it Instead of saving, we now pay even more OMG
Redboy 1st Gear January 12, 2007 Share January 12, 2007 hi, actually how much better is FC when u pump 98 as compared to 95? Since price diff btw 95 & 98 not great, I am curious to know if the savings in petrol from better FC compensates for higher price?
Spenz Neutral Newbie January 12, 2007 Share January 12, 2007 ULG 97 now doing about USD 65/bbl which works out to 63 sin c/lSo about 125 c/l including duties etc. Why is everyone bitching for the petrol companies to drop prices? The biggest piece of the pie comes from duties... what does that tell you?
Dweller Clutched January 13, 2007 Share January 13, 2007 (edited) Well, every year is the same thing in singapore. Petrol price will go up but never come down. Up 3 cents down 1 cent. The cartel is earning big money every year. They paid big bonus to their staff, so must collect more money back from consumer. Where is the CASE???? They only talk many many. Ask ppl to join member & don't know if they have increase joining fees since everything will be GOING UP SOON. Paper tiger with no tooth. GROWLLLLL MORE..U will see them commenting very soon in STRAITS TIMES about consumer rights & cartel not reducing price. Reduce petrol price means less GST..................... David Clutched January 13, 2007 Share January 13, 2007 Perhaps this can shed some lights here. I have not read it yet though. The headline say "Why gasoline follows oil up but not down" http://money.cnn.com/2007/01/12/news/econo...sion=2007011214
Rairai Neutral Newbie January 13, 2007 Author Share January 13, 2007 Why not hah? Petrol extracted from crude oil. Crude oil down, petrol no down If more milk extracted from more cows, then baby milk powder no down? If vegetables plentiful, then price for vege no down? If econmomic down, then bonuses no down? Be careful of how we take things for granted or take things as it is.....it will become permanent

Spenz Neutral Newbie January 13, 2007 Share January 13, 2007 (edited) You didnt get my point? Profit margins are one thing.. Taxes are another... instead of bitching for petro coms to cut back on their profits, why not lobby for taxes to be lowered?
