Boyboy 1st Gear February 5, 2007 Share February 5, 2007 there are easy DIY ways to make it softer. the beep is still there so technically i guess it's legal. can always remove the insulation if going for inspection. some old rags/foam and rubber band does the job easily
Powerkeong Neutral Newbie February 5, 2007 Share February 5, 2007 Don't try to tamper with the speed limit device. For you need to go inspection and they will check on it. The easiest way is to place a piece of magnet onto the casing of the speed limit device. By doing that, it actually keep the beeping sound softer. The best part is when u meet with an ROV, just kick the magnet off the casing. And it will goes back to normal again!

Rollagt 5th Gear February 5, 2007 Author Share February 5, 2007 One thing is the device is mounted at the passenger side beside the door and passengers tend to kick the box when getting off the van. Sooner or later the box sure tio kick out !wahahah!
Rollagt 5th Gear February 5, 2007 Author Share February 5, 2007 Magnet..wow! Din know magnet could soften the beeping. Do I have to get a strong magnet or juz a small one ?
Powerkeong Neutral Newbie February 5, 2007 Share February 5, 2007 (edited) size doesn't matters, it how strong the charges the magnet is. the thing will stop it from beeping. I tried it while working part time for a Electronics Company going to ppl's house repair tv. Most people in the company use magnet to reduce the beeping sound. U need to understand how the speaker works. It uses positive and negative charges to move the speaker to create sound. By putting a magnet nearby, you can disrupt it normal functionality and reduce the sound. Try it and tell me the outcome. I use this method while driving van coz i hate the beeping sound and i always drive above 70km/h... Edited February 5, 2007 by Powerkeong

Rollagt 5th Gear February 6, 2007 Author Share February 6, 2007 Thou its 10km/h difference but it can be irritating when talking to passenger or listen to radio esp 4D results!
Gabriel 1st Gear February 6, 2007 Share February 6, 2007 i think mine is @ 75km/h not veri sure though... coz beeping sound goes well with music played...
Rollagt 5th Gear February 6, 2007 Author Share February 6, 2007 On the contary, I dare not anyhow overtake cars on expressways coz vans' side mirrors are concave in shape and hence cars tend to look farther but in actual fact they are nearer. Vans being taller can be daunting to even travel at higher speed wor..esp vans like Liteace, Hiace etc. During braking, vans are more unstable and tougher to stop at higher speeds..no ABS, no good brakes, no good grip tyres etc and the load U are carrying makes it even harder to brake in time. Heavy braking can make the van "drift ". The rear can slide to one side. For ppl who drove vans are usually the ones who uses the van to make a living..hence I dun think anyone with a sound mind would attempt high speed on roads. If buang, lost of income, pay for damges to the van and worse compensate the goods they are carrying at the time .
