Bus crashed in Genting yesterday.  The bus driver died with PRC passengers injured.

http://www.straitstimes.com/asia/se-asia/tour-bus-crashes-down-genting-leaving-driver-dead-15-injured

I guess "brake system failure" might have caused the bus roll down fast uncontrol in the road cornering area, the bus driver head must have crushed out of his windscreen and pinned under the turned over bus.   :a-rip:

never knew genting had pasar malam.

Any one know more abt it? a quick google didn't show anything useful.

Was enjoying the view from the First World Hotel yesterday evening, and spotted a pasar malam at the staff accommodation blocks. Tried to visualise how to reach this location, but it appear not easily accessible.

Enquired with a security staff, who explained that this is the employee carnival, held once a year and held over 3 days so that shift workers can drop in. Not open to public and hotel guests.

Was there end Jul.

The new cable car system could be seen from the Resorts Hotel room. Undergoing testing. The cable car station at the hill top is rushed up first while the rest of the building it is located on has still alot of construction to go.

Soon, those going there by bus will need to take the cable car up. The bus terminus at the mushroom farm will be terminated.

Supposed to take effect on 1 Aug 16 but delayed.....

2 FAST 2 FURIOUS 12 HOUR ROUND TRIP 2 GENTING 2 MAKAN

- On  a restless Saturday, decided to give the 3 day old Goodyear Assymetric A3 a good scrub in before next driving holiday to Cameron Highlands and Penang later this month.

- Cleared Tuas customs at 3+pm after an hour jam.

- Arrived at Fatty Crab at Petaling Jaya just in time for dinner before dusk. A queue of an least 20 pax had formed. Gave up after 45 mins as the queue was not moving. M'sian friend had been raving about it. But my stomach wasn't patient for the wait. [smallcry] Searched the net for other eating places and decided to head to the row of restaurants at the foot of Genting. [idea]

Fatty Crab is at - No 2 Jalan Ss 24/13, Taman Megah, Petaling Jaya

Maybe will try again on a weekday instead, where the queue is more forgiving.  [:p]

- Bought some bread from the bakery next door (Bakeri Joy) to tide the growling stomach over, and some for breakfast. Old school bakery shop at yesteryear's prices.

- Took a 1/2 hour drive to Restoran Chuan Kee at Gotong Jaya for dinner. See photo below for address. Restaurant was half full, and with natural aircon at 25 degrees. Food was awesome, with the 'small' portion more like a 'medium portion'. Huge serving. Bill was even more awesome, at RM160 for everything you see in the photos below - Soon Hock Fish, XO King Prawn Noodle, Crispy Pork, Fried garlic veg, Water Cress Soup & freshly brewed herbal tea  [thumbsup]

- Drove up 10km to Genting for coffee. Winding road relatively crowded. Nice temperature at 18.5 degrees  [bounce2]

- Drove back to Singapore after coffee at past midnight. Heavens opened up with poor visability and fog. Ahhh... there goes the Initial D Drift

The new Awana Skyway cable car system started operation on 20/12/2016. Our coach (heading for Mushroom Farm Terminal) was directed to the new Awana Station. The fare is RM8/pax one-way. The cabin is very spacious and should be able to carry 10 pax. Previously, I thought it look small and can only carry 6 pax. The system run smoothly and many crew/staff were on hand to assist passengers. The cable cars run to Chin Swee Station, and then to Sky Avenue Station (linked to First World Plaza).

The Sky Avenue Mall is open to public as some retail and F&B outlets are ready for business.

The existing Genting Skyway cable car system would be closed from 22/12/2016. There was no information whether the closure is temporary or otherwise.

This tiny cable car can fit 10 while the much larger old cable car only had a capacity of 8?

What's the weight limit per person? 50 kg?

The Awana cable car is actually larger than the existing Genting cable car. Their website mentioned only aircraft cabin sized luggage is allowed. They have not yet enforce the RM20 surcharge on my 20" luggage yesterday. Maybe later on.

Storage of big luggages is available at the Awana Station. But I think this is not practical as overseas guests from SG and elsewhere, who typically pack in big luggages.
