Jonbummer Neutral Newbie May 14, 2007 Share May 14, 2007 with the F1 confirmed here in Singapore, the organizers will be looking for marshal soon for the event as reported. so i was wondering, beside me and a few crazy friends, who will apply for it once the call comes for volunteer marshal. i think the race needs about 500 marshal in a race week around the track.. cheers ↡ Advertisement
Paddie 3rd Gear May 14, 2007 Share May 14, 2007 To those who voted 'yes if they pay me', do remember that marshals at F1 events around the world are all volunteers and are never paid.
Law_ong Neutral Newbie May 14, 2007 Share May 14, 2007 if they pay for the service and adequate insurance coverage for being a marshals
Huggable Clutched May 14, 2007 Share May 14, 2007 Now, is that true? A F1 marshal job is never easy. Brave the weather, the noise, the danger. Slow to wave blue flag and will get complains from the drivers! Not even insurance coverage?
Jonbummer Neutral Newbie May 14, 2007 Author Share May 14, 2007 yup... all are volunteer. like Mark Webber mentioned while he was in Singapore we must treat this event as a national pride. personally, it will not be so much as a national pride it's really more of be close to action. waving yellow or blue flags.. there are dangers of being a F1 marshal. if i'm not wrong one marshal was KIA on March 4th 2001, Albert Park, Australia. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/main.jhtm...04/smbake05.xml so it's about being there for the love of the sports and those who wants to be paid, get Progress Package from Mr OBS lor

Triton Neutral Newbie May 14, 2007 Share May 14, 2007 Can't afford Paddock Club so for poor people like us, it's the only way to get real close to the action. I will be happy to wave the Blue flag :) Of course volunteering depends on whether one is available.. I am sure it will take many hours of your own time (may probably have to apply leave), to attend training courses, dry runs, meetings etc... but i guess it is worth it
