These cars are ratty old rust buckets unless a proper bare shell restoration was done.

 

40k is purely speculative on his part - he may end up getting much lower offers. But market forces will bolster the car's price that it is still going to be higher than its paper value.

 

The only question is how much Takumi tax the next owner is willing to pay, that's all.
