Glyuen 3rd Gear August 5, 2007 Share August 5, 2007 Just bought this 2001 car recently, din really see any on the roads. Mine's a 5 door manual version. anyone still owns this? would like to check the FC currently, mine's doing about 10km/l (light footed driving below legal speed limits 90% of the time) which seems quite bad for a manual car... any comments? ↡ Advertisement

Ah_liang Clutched August 8, 2007 Share August 8, 2007 My elantra was the 96 version one and super problematic. The plastic in the car broke off one by one. The radiator starts leaking. The car cannot go faster than 130 no matter how hard I step gas in NS highway.
Sfrtuscani Neutral Newbie August 9, 2007 Share August 9, 2007 (edited) i drove two generations of elantra before my current ride..... '92 elantra...using mitsubishi engine(original).... 12++km per litre(normal driving) '99 elantra...using beta engine .... 10++ to 12++ km per litre....( often hard driving and rev to 7K rpm) Edited August 9, 2007 by Sfrtuscani
No_worries 6th Gear August 9, 2007 Share August 9, 2007 My colleague is driving the sedan version with the $101 COE, I think it's the 2001 'cateye' model. It's an automatic and it returns about 9km/l. Other than the heavy fuel consumption, not much problem with his car.
