Nutty 4th Gear August 26, 2007 Share August 26, 2007 Unless you are ultra naughty, doubt you'll get into trouble. I would say corporal punishments is common during BMT. After that, the most you should kena is extra duties. D The rest are for extreme cases, such as AWOL (Absence Without Official Leave) and stealing ammunition. Don't worry so much about NS. Most of us came out in one piece. ↡ Advertisement

Nephilim 1st Gear August 26, 2007 Share August 26, 2007 You from 30SCE too? Yeah... you are right. It's only under severe conditions that we can see what kind of person he is. Last time my platoon has completed our task, and resting, while the other platoon is still working hard under the sun. I brought a few man to pack cold drinks, and smuggled some 100plus and coke for them. It's these small gestures that make them remember us for a long long time. Were you under Melvin? Nutty 4th Gear August 26, 2007 Share August 26, 2007 He sounds familiar. Was he the OC of Bravo or something? No, I'm not under him.
Nephilim 1st Gear August 26, 2007 Share August 26, 2007 So I think you're older than me. During my time he was CO 30SCE. For the record I'm from another SCE but I've heard many horror tekan stories about him from my friends.
Calvin53 Neutral Newbie August 26, 2007 Share August 26, 2007 those punishment from the higher rank is acting only, after passing out, they will become very slack also. you will alwaya hear something like "You see that tree??!! i give you all 10 seconds to run there and come back!! BUT UR 10 SEC STARTED 5 SEC AGO!!"
Sony 1st Gear August 26, 2007 Share August 26, 2007 NO matter what you are in NS, do yourselves proud, coz whatever you do in there, tends to be made a reference when you are out. The world is small, so if you are there to slack, most likely someone somewhere will make such a comment on you in future. If you are some butthead and always do funny things, esp those Officers or Specs, be mindful that the man could jolly well be your boss in future. If you are some medically challenged NSF, the PES status will show as such and during some job interview, that might just bring you one point lower compared to someone of your equal with a clean health of bill. Don't look at just these 2 years of NS, look beyond what these 2 years will do to you.

Weixiang_06 Clutched August 26, 2007 Share August 26, 2007 well, there was this issue about some people who do not need reservist being preferred than those who need to go back for reservist every year.. rem that taiwan semicon manager who passed this remark to a local singaporean, when he asked him do you need to do reservist... Sony 1st Gear August 26, 2007 Share August 26, 2007 Well, it depends on the nature of your job vs who is interviewing you. Apparently when you go back for reservist, you think the company is losing out? There's no free lunch in this world. The govt and those companies know that. Weixiang_06 Clutched August 26, 2007 Share August 26, 2007 actually the kind of work i did during my NSF kind of trained me... to handle administrative stuff, documentation and etc... and it sure comes in handy in my work now.. there are pros and cons... i kind of miss army life... coz i dun have reservist to look forward to, when i could be able to provide administrative services... i was a local admin sergent who had to multi-task
