The one that caught fire was the 1st gen R60 Mini Countryman, which only share the 1.6L Prince engine with BMW.

If it was the 2nd gen F60 Mini Countryman, then it is basically a BMW X1 (the same 2nd gen unit which caught fire recently) just wearing a different skin (and badge)

even 2 5kg extinguishers does not help. thus if one can see flames in engine compartment. just keep away and wait for fire engine to come.

Heard it's a diesel engine...

How cum fireman's water hose managed to put out the fire instead of the agent discharged extinguisher used by the smaritans?

The good intentioned helpers perhaps only happily discharging most of the powder on the surface of the car (metal skin) and only small proportion actually went into the hot flaming areas.
