Noob question. never really venture so far north before.

Which of my car will make it happily to genting?

thinking of planning a trip there in May.

Picnic would be a good choice for passenger comfort and for climbing Gentings. But being a Toyota MPV, some may find it a popular target among thief. Just be alert and practice common sense, should be alright. Enjoy [thumbsup].

If those fully loaded 600cc ~ 850cc Kelisa can go up and down, I don't see why Mazda 3 or Picnic can't make it? Just take your time, no need to rush up and down.

Mine is a 2L Civic. I've gone up Gentings many times with my previous 1.6L Civic with 5 heads including the driver so I can tell you both cars certainly can make it, just a matter of patience. A little bit of skill counts too [laugh].

ok must drive at 2nd / 3rd gear?

1. I've not tried the 2L civic on Gentings but based on my ex-ride, I used D3 most of time when climbing as soon as the road is flater, I will shift back to D. D2 was also used but on a few occasions for very steep curves.

2. Civic has VTEC, quite handy in tackling uphill. If want extra surge of power, I would shift down to D3, depress the accelerator all the way, within seconds the car will have a burst of surging power to climb faster but doesn't last for too long on steep curves.

1. Chicken feed? I've yet to try [laugh].

2. Skill in shifting gear up and down plus when to depress the accelerator hard.
