For fridges, these are what I look out for

a) SAFETY MARK

- The 2-digit year will indicate how old is the model.

b) ENERGY SAVING LABEL

- The no. of ticks might not be that relevant. IIRC, there is a total KwH rating.

There is no fixed rule, depending on your needs, you'll need to do comparison between different makes/models. Don't be surprise to find some physically smaller fridge might cost more to operate than larger ones.

For information purposes, SP Power charges 23.88cents per kWh.

Well, you can check the energy rating online.

http://els.nea.gov.sg/mels/aircon.asp

This is compiled by NEA, just use the drop down to define what you require.

For the 4 ticks its only the below.

Brand Model Type Green Ticks Volume (l) Annual Energy Consumption

(kWh)1 Estimated Energy Cost ($)2

Fisher & Paykel E381T Refrigerator with freezer 4 350 467 112

Fisher & Paykel E411T Refrigerator with freezer 4 380 465 111

Fisher & Paykel E521T Refrigerator with freezer 4 489 523 125

Fisher & Paykel E440T Refrigerator with freezer 4 412 488 117

Fisher & Paykel E331T Refrigerator with freezer 4 299 432 103

Neutral Newbie

I bought a LG fridge same model you are looking except no water dispenser..It was recommended by the technician who came to service my broken down fridge (Indesit brand) I did ask him F&P better why LG...He told me he told me he service a lot of fridge and so far LG one he hardly came across that spoilt apart from replacing the rubber thingy. I had been using this LG fridge for abt 6 mth I would say value for money and temperature quite constant even with fridge fully loaded with food unlike previous one put more food need to adjust temperature. Efficiency wise I guess not much different

I am using a Maytag for 10 years+, still going - changed the heater element twice. 2-door model, very good.
