Some are more than 4K~6K [sweatdrop][sweatdrop][sweatdrop]

I.e Mine will cost almost 12~13K jus for the gearbox without labout charges chucked in if it is carried out at the agent's premises [dizzy][dizzy][dizzy]

I think with regular changing of ATF, it should last more than 7 years [nod][nod][nod]

I think it's hard to gauge between the 2 [nod][nod][nod]

My towkay's previous 98 Lancer had almost 200K in mileage with regular shifting between 'N' & 'D' at traffic junctions still work well when he sold it off at it's 5th year [nod][nod][nod]

Furthermore, he did not flush his ATF before but jus drain & top up niah [nod][nod][nod]

Generally, manual gearbox would not have such a problem cos they are running on clutch, clutch plate, disc .. etc [nod][nod][nod] & definately much much cheaper as compared [:)]

I would say depends on the make & the frequency the ATF oil is changed. 200k is possible with good makes & regular oil changes. Must remember in SG the auto box is stressed. We dont do a lot of long distance driving which is better for the boxes.

Supercharged

1 of my fren's proton auto gear box died during 7th, quoted replacement cost 10k for potong part.

another 1, audi auto just after 3rd yr, died. was quoted 14k for the box exclude labour. not sure was it the high mileage that killed it faster.

mine, a coe manual after 15yrs still ok but fan coil died.

even if u are someone who send the car in for regular servicing so hard to say.

bright side is jap car got potong parts.

I was driving a corona CD(SBH plate) with auto box in year 1999-2003 when it was registered in 1989.It was still working perfectly fine when I have to deregistered it at the 15th years due to our local COE systems [:|]

A fine example of over engineering [thumbsup]

I think it should be able to last 10 years till the COE ends with regular maintainence... Uncle once own a proton saga 5 years of age and until the 13th year than the gearbox gave way...

do you change your ATF Filter for every ATF oil change? [hur]

Fyi, ATF filter + gasket not cheap (ard $70) and labour cost ($40) is more than ATF drain & top up ($15).... [sweatdrop][knife]
