Quote from LTA:

'The only way to have a truly people-centred transport system is for LTA to conduct customer surveys regularly.'

I think to have a truly people-centric transport system, they have to listen to the people as well. Don't you think so?

Survey is for fun.

Survey creates jobs.

Nobody do anything after getting the data, it's for show.

whats the point of survey?

does it takes effects after gathering data?

what is see is, LTA is trying to formulate the date collected and impose a reason to install more gantries. [scholar]

The MRT travelling patterns are the REAL travelling needs.

The BUS travelling patterns are the real travelling needs.

Both electronic information can easily be extracted from the computers.

1) If MRT is crowded, please add more trains/frequency at those timings.

2) Is bus is crowded, please add more buses at those timings.

Very simple, there are only TWO peak periods in Singpore's travelling needs, Morning and evening.

No need to spend $1million just to know this type of things.

Will this be an useful exercise or it's another 1 million down the drain?

Your guess is as good as mine. [;)]

Frankly ... close 2 eyes ... can know what the survey result will be liao ...

Weekday's pattern, quite fixed so we talked about weekends.

- Couple with 2 kids, one learn plano and one learn ballet, got to drop them off, pick them up then go for lunch or dinner on weekends.

- Couple with 2 kids, mostly stay at home on weekends.

- Couple with 5 kids, like to bring all of them to East Coast beach for picnic.

- Couple with 1 kid, like to bring their kid to cycle and swim.

The list goes on ...

People travel to go somewhere to get something done .... or to meet somebody. So to cut down travelling, it is to make as much things/facilities available to people as possible.

So build lots of facilities in the area .... and give special housing allocation for relatives ... or even friends .. to stay together.

Wonder why the survey has to be home visits?

Why can't they just have an online survey, use lucky draws to attract participation?

$10,000 as prizes is better than $1,000,000.

But then, it still comes back to the same thing. The results are useless if they do not do anything about it.

Most likely they will use it to justify raising ERPs further.

Well, they shouldn't visit my home, bcoz I will slam the door at their face for wasting my time.

Unless, they bring the law up again like the statistics dept.

Why is it with ezlink that needs your IC no to buy, they cannot capture the travel data and do some simulation?

like that can save some money.

The rest they can spend it on non public transport survey

But I expect that the survey will result in 1 thing. confirming our world class transport can have more minor improvement but it is indeed world class.
