I am wondering how often should I replace the oxygen sensors. I known that as the oxygen sensors aged, fuel consumption will deteriorate. What is a good replacement interval assuming that there is no equipment available to check the oxygen sensors.

Of course, if you clean regularly at every 50K , can use for very very very long time.

This sorts of remind me of people cleaning and regapping their spark plugs in the past.

Yes,one is at the exhaust manifold, some cars have another further down the exhaust system. It looks kind of like a spark plug shaped device from outside.

No it is not the air/fuel mixture ratio sensor, it is just the oxygen sensor which senses the amount of oxygen in the exhaust.

It's the same thing. But properly known as oxygen sensor.

Sensing the amount of oxygen left over in the exhaust will tell you the AFR.
