If I had the money to burn and am a Carrera fan, why not? I know a Porsche workshop in Sin Ming that specialises in old Porsches. Actually there are quite a few there. So no worries about maintenance. But I would do something about that price [sly]

What do you think is a good price to start bargaining with?

"Owner spent a lot of money for repairs, upgrades & fully facelifted to 964 model" means not original? If the parts changed are original, then no problem, right? Or you spotted something in the photos?

its not original cos its no longer an original SC.

and the parts are like mish-mash..rims are also wrong

owner may have put in a lot but with all due respect, thats his problem.

such an old SC unless in superb condition is not worth a cent more than $50k

Better be buying a 15 yr old 964 for $60k to $70k and spending another $20k to really do it up nicely.

if you want to "play" old cars, you need to prepare lots of cash to take advantage of situations. you get the best deals buying directly from owners in full cash.

wonder why so many 911SC's in SG get converted to 964 body panels... why don't they just leave it as it is... doesn't the SC look good by itself?

it's normal lah, dude. mostly becos people want their car to look "current".

There are 964s that get facelifted to look like 993s too!

For me , I like the 993 body but with the 996 interior, haha.

in five years time when my girl is bigger and i dont need child seat and the 997 is much cheaper, then i will think about getting one.....if i can wipe enough tables to pay for it that is

sadly even old Porsches in Singapore are never for average working class unless backed by non average working class parents. [laugh]

Road tax for old Carrera about $5k and insurance depends.

for me mid 30s 3rd pft for yr93 964 is about $2.5 to $3k

so before anything, 1 yr lose $8k easily

be prepared............

my choice will be the 993 911. the last of the air cooled porsches. only air cooled porsches sound proper IMO...

and 993s are pretty rare here i must say.

my ex supervisor had one...i remembered that that model used oil to cool the engine as well...hence it requires 15 liters of oil....quite shiong when it comes to oil service [sweatdrop][sweatdrop][sweatdrop]

yes. it actually had to use larger vol of oil to aid the cooling and via the oil cooler. and the air cooled boxers are drinkers as well.

but they sound so damn nice.

i'm neutral here.

air cooled or liquid cooled both have their pros and cons.

993s still quite a few. can definitely find.

but more manual ones than tiptronic
