The scam calls in Sgp are getting out of hand.

Recently, I have been getting more calls from overseas scammers than from my friends or relatives.  These numbers appear local in ID display.

They claim they are from singtel, dhl or MOH.

I thought ours is supposed to be smart nation? How come detection and filtering system is still so goondu after so many years?

Unless they mentioned oxley .. temasek.. nepotism etc.. cannot trace... no manpower.. 50 man years..

Are they correctly blocked as intended?

They could be legitimate local callers, right?

Smart move. For ppl who are not aware there's no such thing as +65 as local caller ID are not displayed with SG country code. So any +65 is basically an overseas call and obviously a scam call.

Read this if you missed the news.

‘Plus’ sign for incoming overseas calls may not weed out all scams but is good first step, say experts

Do you use third party app to do this prefix blocking? I am using a samsung phone, it does not seem to have such a feature. Can recommend yours?

I'm using LG V20, I think it's more with android version. Mine is android version 8.0.0 (not even the latest). Not 3rd party app.

Under Settings -> Networks -> Call -> Common (bcuz mine has 2 SIM cards) -> Call blocking & Decline with message -> Digi Filter (Block calls based on the starting or ending digits in their number)

Then add Starts With, Match Condition, -> +659, etc..

Maybe it's different phone maker, different implementation of android.

My increased number of scam calls received.

Does it indicate that I am starting to move into the vulnerable age group.

Receiving more calls from scammers than from friends and relatives combined.

Also received money lending at special rates SMS.

I thought telco cannot track WhatsApp, but can track 100% of messages?

The last money lending sms I got, I saved the number, went into the guy’s Whatspp, took a screenshot of his profile picture, which is a picture of him and his girlfriend, then I sent everything to the police.  I also sent him a WhatsApp message with the screenshot and said “you and your girlfriend are going to be famous”.  Hahahahah
