Hiya,

my colleague is intending to trade in her 4yr old vios ($28k) for an OPC Swift ($54k - $17k rebate). Understand that her road tax will be subsidized up to $800 and eligible to pay a min of $50.

What i am curious is when she sells this opc car in the future how do we calculate its value? do we use the original omv?

$9k for a brand new car seems too good to be true?? [shocked] even if she uses the $20 coupon everyday she can afford to use coupons up to 3 years and drive daily on the roads. [idea]

it is not likely that gov so blur got this loop hole... can anyone enlighten?

Supercharged

take note, tat although she still needs to clear outstanding loans.... so its not 9k for a new car..

Its 54k-17k=37k..

and if she still owes bank 30k, her old vios fetch her 28k, she end up need to pay bank 2k and then 37k for new car. unless her vios was bought on COD...

4k for vios body?!?!

Might as well sell outside can fetch higher price.

4yr old body, on average can fetch around 5 - 7 k. Depending on condition and kits.

54-17=37

37-28=9

Its nothing surprising since your friend is paying more for the downpayment.

Its just like taking a N95 HP go trade in for a N6300. No need to top up some more the shop still pay you back $100 cash. Using a higher value to offset a lower value.

If its 9k, might as well make full payment for it. No interest. And paper around 10k.

It will be as though like paying $20 a day to drive and no extra charges for the car itself. And still can get back 1k after scrapping the car.

bro kinda have to really see not the same type of car. it is like what our bro said comparing normal car vs OPC. For me, i rather keep the vios so only have to pay the road tax, servicing , insurance and season. A peace of mind.

Cheers!!

ya she is changing to opc as her new office is in town and she has a direct train to work hence the change. obviously she will not use the $20 coupon everyday... i was just stating a hypothetical. $9k more for a brand new car without any loan for 10years seems like quite a sweet deal especially if she only uses the car on weekends. [;)] my only concern is the rebate when she sells in a couple of years time. [shocked]

i've been driving for almost 10 years and this is my 3rd car. but all these while i've not dealt with opc so seeking some advice from the forum gurus. seems like this is quite a taboo topic getting "flamed" by quite a few here.... i am enquiring for my colleague so pls dun flame the messager... [:/]

PS. i know its not apple to apple comparison thats why my questions were strictly skewed towards the catch and how to calculate the rebate when she sells in the future. [;)]

understand...apologise....i think you get a little "flamed" or I term them as very frank comments as there isn't really any logic...your fren should keep the vios if its in good condition to last till the 10th yr... [;)]

hah...cannot count like that mah...not another 10yrs...is another 4 extra years as compared to the 6yrs she can still get for driving the vios and not paying any installment.

no lah...ppl here not trying to "flame" u lah...dun worry... [thumbsup]

Think the general thinking is that it doesn't make sense to spend more money to get a new OPC car...pay 10k more can get new car, drive for 10yrs...BUT what if 3-4yrs down the road wanna change car again, how much can u get back for the OPC...
