Wow! That's a really good result. Saw on the Beijing 2008 website that her timing is the 4th fastest qualifying time out of the 49 swimmers. Of course not everyone goes all out for the heats, but to come in 4th in such a competitive field is a bloody good result! Not even Joscelin made it so far up.

 

Good for her, and she's so young. Maybe a medal prospect at the next games?

Ya, I believe Tao Li was born in China, her citizenship was awarded in 2005. She won many gold medals in 2005 and 2007 SEA Games and a GOLD (I think also a bronze) in 2006 Asian Game. Actually, to qualify for the final in the Bejing is already quite an achievement, if she gets a medal, it will be fantastic.

There's a chance. Her strength is in her final 50 metres; in fact she was the fastest over the last 50m (see http://results.beijing2008.cn/WRM/ENG/INF/...shtml#SWW021201). She just gotta start better and believe in herself, it's all mental now really.
