Andrewl Clutched September 15, 2008 Share September 15, 2008 Agree that the symptons seems to be that of eczema. Maybe can go to a polyclinic to be referred to National Skin Centre so that the patient would be at subsidized rate. If urgent, just do a search for skin doctors. Expect to be charged double though. Watwheels Supersonic September 15, 2008 Share September 15, 2008 It's due to poor personal hygiene. Dirty fingernails, itchy patch behind his knees(does he change his pants regularly?). Scalp also kenna . He bathe regularly? Sweat and bacteria from from dirty hands is a lethal combo. Ask him go cut his fingernails and soak his hands in dettol. I think u better keep away from him or he'll spread to u.
Andrewl Clutched September 15, 2008 Share September 15, 2008 True enough. Cos Stress is linked to Eczema too, if I'm remember the doctor's 'lecture' correctly. but seems many of the babies nowadays are suffering from this eczema. Dun think last time heard of this condition that often.
Qpik Supercharged September 15, 2008 Share September 15, 2008 yeah it is not common last time. do u know that our environment plays a part? too many pollutants in the air will also trigger an onset of it. as our body changes all the time, it is hard to determine whether eczema is genetic or not. as for baby, i can only conclude that the parents might be over-plying their skin with too many man-made chemicals. Andrewl Clutched September 15, 2008 Share September 15, 2008 Or maybe parents have increased their awareness of the condition? Haha. Maybe last time when such a condition appeared the parents would just put calamine lotion and dismissed it as rashes. Now, it's re-termed 'eczema'. But then, back to TS query, take note that eczema is a lifetime thingy and there' no 'cure' to it. You can only control the condition. If seeking private doctors, do note that the first visit is usually higher cost but subsequent visits would be lower cost, though I would think that NSC would suffice (but waiting time is a bit long). Qpik Supercharged September 15, 2008 Share September 15, 2008 the doc will prob prescribe steroid cream. i believe there's alternative treatment to it if one is willing to do research.
Hub_n_mona 1st Gear September 15, 2008 Share September 15, 2008 bro, is it your friend or yourself?? why do you say "i will keep scratching till the skin becomes reddish"? Anyway, go see a doctor (GP) first. I used to go to a Dr Ying Xiong (Hero) in Tampines but that was many years back. Alternatively, you can try using aloe vera after bathing each time, see if it helps first.

Kezg1 5th Gear September 15, 2008 Share September 15, 2008 If it is not eczema than it could be scerolsis (sthing like that)....scaling/flaking at the flinch of the scalp later other body parts, red patches like rashes and itchiness and properly turn into pus....there is no cure at this moment but can only control it. Diet is very important. Plenty of vege and fruits.....avoid alcohol..minimise dip frying and BBq food. Yes, better to go CDC for treatment, if in early stage maybe..just maybe can recover (IMO)
Loki Supersonic September 15, 2008 Share September 15, 2008 It's due to poor personal hygiene. Dirty fingernails, itchy patch behind his knees(does he change his pants regularly?). Scalp also kenna . It is not necessarily a hygeiene problem. I had eczema sometime last month and went to see a doctor. The doctor told me that it was definitely not a hygiene problem. In fact, apparently the soap I used was too strong - I like to use dettol soap to bathe. So, he said that the soap killed off not only the bad bacteria but also the good bacteria that inhabits our skin. So, I had to use a steroid cream plus switch to a gentler soap - now ok already.
