Anyone caught the newest Top Gear Australia?

From left to right: Charlie Cox, Warren Brown and Steve Pizzati

brief overview of the presenters:

Warren Brown, cartoonist and motoring columnist for The Daily Telegraph

Charlie Cox, MotoGP commentator for the BBC, and a former radio presenter and ex-racing driver

Steve Pizzati, advanced driving instructor, race driver and freelance motoring journalist

I think it sucks BIG TIME.... and its making a big ridicule of the original show itself.

i just dont know where to start.... but heck here goes:

1) the presenters arent the bit funny

2) hate their accent...

3) what the hell was with dumping the car as shark bait? is this even a car show ?

4) The celebrities can even get a better track time than "The Stig"

5) Whats the layout of the track? it feels like its just 3 corners and all straights

6) Steve bumped his head coming out of the Ford GT???

7) Charlie spun out on the Ford GT a couple of times?

8) Charlie looked absolutely scared pushing the Ford GT to its "max" speed. Some race driver..

9) Ok give them a bit of teething problems but the 2nd episode was rubbish too.

10) look at the crowd on the 1st episode.. and the tiny "gathering" at the 2nd. obviously even the Ozzies thought it was crap.

11) And whats with Steve suggesting to rename the Stig to Stiggo ? WTFBBQ?

Give them time lah... Perhaps when a person who has watched Top Gear before has higher expectations of the show of the same name but the Aussie version...

When Top Gear was 1st broadcast, it was good also... In fact it was so bad that it was stopped for a while...

ya lar :D the 1st episode was no where as good as it is now but given that they wanted to start a new show in another country, they should know the forumla and know exactly what pulls the crowd/viewers, what is good and what is rubbish :(

I mean... after watching Top Gear UK, it makes me want to be there.. to hear the sounds or want the car so badly :)

Its almossst the opposite with the Australian version... [laugh]

Turbocharged

TG UK's standard is too high liao lah..and the chemistry between JC, Hamster and May is very very good..

even comparing to fifth gear, which is actually closer to a proper 'motoring programme', alot people still prefer TG simply because the presenters are very very good..

Agree. I tot TG Aust is not bad considering they are so new and only into their 2nd episode. But most of the cars they reviews are less relevant to us...cos we don't get them here in S'pore.

Even for the original Top Gear, the cars they review are like dreams cars to most of us...

I do hope they will get better but they will never replace the original...

as the title suggested, it's for Australia..

international audience are expected to watch top gear (UK)

so it's natural for them to use their own lingo.

e.g , if in singapore , local presenters might suggest rename the stig to ah stig [laugh]

for their first season .. it's pretty good ,, if you go and dig and compare the 1st season of top gear uk

top gear uk's budget and the Australia budget is like usa and singapore yearly budget , cannot be compared..

so let's cut top gear Australia a break , sit back and enjoy the show , while we wait for the season 12 of top gear to return on nov 2

actually i think its feasible.. if it caters to locals, people from around the region will tune in too. but surely we'll get [rifle] from people all over the world la.. so if we do have something like this, we probably shouldn't call it Singapore Top Gear.. haha

I'm skeptical about it lah... Budget wise I also don't know who will fund it... Because if 1 single sponsor does the funding, the show would definately be biased... Also don't know if the ADs here can take the kind of criticisms or it'll be toned down...

Somehow IMHO that this show won't work here...
