My friend changed to RE001 from RE050. His take on RE001 is that it has less feel but overall quite comparable to RE050. I'm on GY asymmetric now, thump my earlier RE050 in almost all aspects.

I just changed to RE001, regretted. Should have sought some user opinions 1st b4 changing. I think RE001 is really just an average performer in all aspects, jack of all trades but master of none. Comfort and noise is quite acceptable, wet grip is reasonable, but dry grip is ok, but falls well short of my expectations for the price. Sidewalls are kinda soft, and the tires lose grip unexpectedly early when cornering hard. A disclaimer, it should be alright or even a good tire for the most drivers out there, but not for the enthusiast driver who might drive a little harder sometimes. That calls for a tire with better dry grip at that price point.

04. Price

of the 3 tyres, this is how I would rate them

01. Comfort - lowest noise - S1 Evo, V12, RE001

02. Handling in dry - best - S1 Evo way ahead, V12 & RE001 closely matched

03. Handling in wet - best - S1 Evo way ahead, V12 slightly ahead of RE001

04. Price - no comments as they vary, S1 Evo would be a very good bet in terms of price vs performance as it is a class above V12 & RE001

Hi there,

Where did you get the GY asymmetric? Do they have it in 215/45/R17 size?
