Quote

The upgrading works, which involved the deepening and widening of the canal as well as the construction of additional tunnels, will help alleviate the risk of flash floods along Bukit Timah and Dunearn Road, said PUB.

The problem is water got no where to go during sudden downpour.

In addition to the upgrade, it needs a cistern to store all this excess water.

Just like Stamford Canal

Mother Nature - 1

upgrading - 0

No matter how wide the upgrade, it is useless in situation like Today.

A cistern is required as temporary holding area.

earth is nature's sponge for absorbing rain water.

over the years, we have converted a lot of earth into concrete; buildings, roads, bicycle paths etc.

and we wonder why nowadays temperature go up and also more flooding. [:p]

will PUB now drop the price of water ??? OK even for 1 month ; I'm glad

Nope, the price will be upped as they need to process greater volume of water.

They will show you the photos of the muddy water at Dunearn.... And tell you need to clear the filters more often and thus higher costs per cubic metre.

Previously all the water will flow through soil into underground water table.

Now, all the soil is replaced by cement.

Of course has to go drainage
