Run in a swimming pool that is chest deep. Run forwards, backwards, sideways as hard as you can to strengthen different muscle groups. Like you, I have hips and knees pain when run on roads or treadmill. Ever since I started pool running, no pain and it actually conditions my muscles due to the resistance of the water. Bonus is that even when run in the hottest day, still do not feel hot. My hips and legs are much better shape now. So much so that it has extended my tennis playing life, especially my sprint speed to reach balls.

Hope it lasts long enough to bring down the daytime temperature.  It had been relatively dry for past few weeks despite heavy rains in other parts of our island.
