What is reasonable salary for local U Engineering?

I have a friend who has graduated from local U engineering degree. He has lower honours and asking around 2.8k. Is that reasonable?

depends on specialisation( eee, mech material etc) and industry ( aviation/o&G/semi con) you joining as well as the size of the company( mnc vs sme ...

 

usually it's 2.5k up....

On 2nd thoughts, I remember my friend who is an electronic engineer with ST Electronics and he told me that their senior engineer only paid 3K also.

2.8k? that is what some retrenched engineers(ie experienced) are asking. even at good times, a fresh grad is getting 2.5-2.6k. at present time, lower expectations by 25-30%.

serious nia??? sheesh...looks like healthcare for now in certain fields better man.....3k is easy w calls and shift....and normally can take home abt 3.5k.....when i was in health care, annual abt 65k nia

i have a candidate w part time overseas master degree...with only 1 yr working experience in 2 coy dated 2-3 yrs ago....asking for 3.2k!

 

rejected anyway.

That's really low. time to move on when market is better for your friend.

yes, engineer pay not high. unless u in construction or oil&gas, a engineer with 5 years experience should be getting 4k+, but the liability high, have to sign papers and if anything go wrong, the first question is "who the engineer"
