Wreckwrx 1st Gear July 15, 2009 Share July 15, 2009 Time to change car battery , any feedback on the above brand of battery. Current Amaron been in the car since 20 months ago. I am currently using Boliden on my ride... for about 6~7 months already... I am not into ICE or have any very high electrical power needs so there no significant difference from my old lau pok batt that I have to top-up with batt water now and then.... Cranking is not much smoother either but then this might be due to my spark plugs getting old already... I also have those apexi pen-type turbo timer that can display voltage but similarly, nothing significant to note.... So in a nutshell... it seems to be like any other batt to me... Johnnylim 5th Gear May 5, 2013 Share May 5, 2013 Where to get Boliden battery? Seems not many workshops carry it.
Dark_flan 2nd Gear May 9, 2013 Share May 9, 2013 I was recommended by BH auto to this brand but I flatly rejected it because the brand sounds funny and unheard before. In the end, installed a Bosch unit from another W.S before that is Amaron. Apparently most said Boliden is a good brand?

Johnnylim 5th Gear May 15, 2013 Share May 15, 2013 my previous Boliden battery lasted 3 years .....normal usage, no heavy equipment. good or not ?? ......now change to Borsh because no choice. But all are reputable brands la...varta, borsh, amaron, boliden, yuasa, oddessey etc..... Choose the best value for money product. No point chhose expensive battery..Amaron too much marketing already example - so wat is the battery cost $300 claim to last 3 years etc...?? if i can find battery for $100 and can last 1 year..... i will take the $100 batt and 3 years change 3 times... What u mean by 'no choice?' Somebody force u?
Dark_flan 2nd Gear May 16, 2013 Share May 16, 2013 My past Amaron serve me 3 yrs + with 20%+ life in it before the Bosch. Very good and battery is quite competitive in pricing. Not forgetting that my car is loaded up with sound system and a moving Christmas tree :P. Partially due to voltage stabiliser and power charger installed. Kb27 Supersonic June 22, 2016 Share June 22, 2016 upz for any recent experiences to share. thank you. I suspect Trane and Boliden are made in the same factory in Thailand. They are rather heavy batteries compared with other brands. Heavy may be good, if the weight is due to thicker lead plates, which means more deep discharge capability. However, Trane seems to die more often from a shorted cell, perhaps due to too much lead, falling to the bottom and shorting out the cell. If it doesn't short out, it'll probably give you a better than average lifespan. These batteries might even be good as stop/start batteries, although I'm not sure if it will last. ↡ Advertisement
