I have sealed up the circulated vent inlet so no more outside air anymore as you know that when you close the circulation vent, there will be around 10% of the outside air coming into the cabin.

Singapore air are full of exhaust fumes so how to have fresh air from outside if you open up the circulation vent.

circulated air.

once fumes from buses, lorries etc get into the car the smell is terrible.

Even if you close the circulation vent, there will be some exhaust fumes coming into the cabin as all new air-con system are running by electronic control compared to the older vehicles which are running by cable, they will have allow less outside air coming in.

If you check with those air-con specialist like Tomika or Mark Cool regarding this, they will tell you the same thing also. After sealing the inlet, I have no worries when driving behind a rubbish truck. [thumbsup]

Supersonic

If you're driving on MY highway, you might want some fresh air.

If you're driving on SG roads, definitely recirculated air.

Just drive to the air-con specialist or your agent if your car is still under warranty, they will help you to seal the inlet.

Mostly recirculated air but on the long NSHW drives, I have to make a conscious effort to switch to fresh air every half hour or so. I once forgot to do so on a no-stop drive back from KL and left it on circulate, felt tired until I switched over to fresh air. Every car should be equipped with an in-cabin oxygen meter.

No wonder somtimes I can still smell the exhaust even after switched to circulated air.

Air con by design is recirculating the air, in the case of a car by recirculating the air cools faster and the compressor dun have to work so hard when it reaches the preset temperature. In a way it improve a bit on FC.

Some a/c are program to switch to outside air for a while to dilute the CO2 in the cabin of your car otherwise you will feel tired and nausea after some time. Those whose children have hyperventilation is better they switch to outside air more often.

It's good to let in some fresh air or outside air if you are on a long drive or in your car for too long. Car cabin space is very small and if you have a lot of passengers the concentration of CO2 build-up very fast.

In my room, I dun fully close my windows when I sleep with air con on. For those who shut the doors and windows tight you will find yourself pale and want to throw up in the morning.
