Axela72 5th Gear October 21, 2009 Share October 21, 2009 See link: http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/autoexpr...urbo_boost.html Alongside an updated range of four-cylinder diesels, Ford will offer super-efficient direct-injection, turbocharged EcoBoost petrol engines that give a 20 per cent reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, while providing the same power as larger-capacity units currently on sale. Three engines are planned, starting with a 1.6-litre offering between 150bhp and 180bhp, and scheduled to debut in the C-MAX next year. There will also be a 2.0-litre producing upwards of 200bhp ↡ Advertisement
Seaweed 1st Gear October 21, 2009 Share October 21, 2009 if price were good....why not....but then i doubt it will be the case in singapore...
Miles 4th Gear October 21, 2009 Share October 21, 2009 Ford Mondeo (also Focus, Fiesta, S-Max, Galaxy, Kuga, etc...) is strong in its chassis development, suspension tuning, good steering feel, safety (with the influence of Volvo), comfortable seats (Volvo influence as well), built quality (but with poor perceived quality interior plastic) and reliability (to a certain extend). Ford's weakest link is their petrol engine and auto gearbox .... which is so crucial in Singapore market. But if they update their engines to match the competition with direct injection turbo charge small capacity (1.6-2.0L) petrol engine mating to their powershift (dual clutch) auto box that's seen on the volvos (C30, S40, V50).... and price it competitively (even with low OMV), im sure they will make a very compelling alternative to Camry, Accord and Teana..... With this new Mondeo CC sexy design,... if they have a good package, they will sell....
Samshio 2nd Gear October 21, 2009 Share October 21, 2009 Hopefully RM brings in the 2.0L engine with the powermatic dual-clutch. but then price might be > 100k
Axela72 5th Gear October 21, 2009 Author Share October 21, 2009 Ford Mondeo should compare with the conti cars. Do you think it will beat Skoda Superb this round? The lamborgihini shape look will definitely win but not sure about the ride yet.
Rm2s 5th Gear October 22, 2009 Share October 22, 2009 I personally find the Passat CC has a cleaner lines. The take up rate on the Passat CC is not high probably due to 2 seaters in the back.

Alfisti168 1st Gear October 26, 2009 Share October 26, 2009 (edited) Any idea how to cut and paste the ford mondeo pic out for comparsion? Very easy what. Just click on the picture that you want to put in MCF. A pop-up showing the image will appear. Right click the image, select "copy image location" Then come to MCF, press the "insert image" button, then paste the image location. Done. (btw you can go to the testing forum to try out first) Edited October 26, 2009 by Alfisti168

Axela72 5th Gear October 26, 2009 Author Share October 26, 2009 (edited) Very nice! But i guess the price will be well above 100K if it reaches our shores. depend on their OMV. if 30k yes. But if their OMV is still like 20-23k, still got hope below 100k.......provide our COE dont shoot up above 20k Current model 2.3L. This new one is either 1.4L (150bhps), 1.6L (150-180bhps) or 2L (200bhps). All with turbo 6 speed dualclutch. But road tax is cheaper..........not to mention that their FC is supposed to be 20% improvement Edited October 26, 2009 by Axela72
Axela72 5th Gear October 26, 2009 Author Share October 26, 2009 (edited) If the 1.4L or 1.6L is sharing the same engine as the 2L one. Maybe can purchase the smaller cc. at cheaper price..80K? After that, remap the ECU to 2L power Edited October 26, 2009 by Axela72
Davc Neutral Newbie October 26, 2009 Share October 26, 2009 Is that the final production picture or 'depicted by artist' picture? Honestly, if Ford really makes it like the picture, it would be good. At least everybody has more choices. Hope they put in their good engines. If not the car so sporty, at least 2.0 turbo is requried. Also this kind of body really need the 18-19 inch wheels, and lowered to look good, like the picture.
Kiadaw 6th Gear October 26, 2009 Share October 26, 2009 Ford Mondeo is a good car with very nice interior & very afforable price for its class. Its very common in the UK, & especially where I worked (due to employee discount). But very rare in Singapore. Singapore still prefer Japanese brands like Toyota & Honda disprite conventional design & generally plasticy & dull interior (at least toyota). Not sure about reliability, but no one has complain to me about the car so far. If there is no issue in Europe where weather effect is more drastic, I don't see any problem in Singapore. Anyway, reliability is very overrate here in Singapore considered we are one of the most car friendly country in the world. Aka contant (hot)temperature through the year, & never no drastic change. No flooding, no sub zero condition, & no damage due to road salt. Oh, by the way, I love the new Mondeo design in the photo.
