Gd to see green cars are making their existence felt here .. Flag down is 20cents more than normal. For those that like to "go green" make your presence felt by specifically requesting these cabs - reward the company with your $$

Picanto 3rd Gear November 20, 2009 Share November 20, 2009 why can't they use 1.4 litre cars and charge consumers a lower price?
Babyt 4th Gear November 20, 2009 Share November 20, 2009 1.4litre maybe too underpowered? the taxi has to ferry max passenger load cum luggages...
Woonyang Clutched November 20, 2009 Share November 20, 2009 why can't they use 1.4 litre cars and charge consumers a lower price? it's never about lowering selling price in SG, only about cost cutting and increasing profit margin.

Picanto 3rd Gear November 21, 2009 Share November 21, 2009 since prius is so fuel efficient, flag down rate should be cheaper than diesel cabs

Imaginary 1st Gear November 21, 2009 Share November 21, 2009 pure city, 24km/litre is highly possible Pure city? That would mean lots of start-stop traffic. I thought that hybrid vehicles uses petrol when higher torque is required i.e. moving off, and switches to battery when cruising. So wouldn't pure city driving mean higher FC? Pure city driving = more braking, more braking charges batteries Lower speeds = less air resistance (air resistance increases at the square of the speed) so less power needed so petrol engine less in use The Prius has stop start tech, so when the car is waiting at taxi stands, traffic lights or similar the engine is not running At low speeds (up tyo 20km/h?) the Prius can run on electricity only
