Amazon777 3rd Gear December 5, 2009 Share December 5, 2009 (edited) My colleague make regular weekly trip to JB for petrol and food the past 1 yr in his Toyota Wish. About a month back after his usual 3 hrs shopping haunt in Tebrau Jusco. Car was found stolen in the Jusco sheltered car park right under his nose. When going in Northland, must blend with the local and be alert to surrounding. Be like the locals in JB, do pick up some steering lock/ foot brakes lock which may deter. Since you are driving a E-class, it already a magnet for car-jack, just be alert. I drove my E60 5 series once a month into JB and I am constantly alert to my surroundings at all times, if possible, preferably the car is in line of sight all the time. Heard too many case, does not want my car to be part of the statistics Edited December 5, 2009 by Amazon777
Gendut 2nd Gear December 5, 2009 Share December 5, 2009 Say an E-class? is it safe if you go alone for a short trip in the big cities? Lexus, BMW, Merc are definite targets. Its just a matter of time they will take it away from you. The newer the cars the higher the demand. Good luck.
Red_line Clutched December 5, 2009 Share December 5, 2009 just make sure ur valueables are hidden and not in sight .. and like what other bros said , buy steering lock .. usually they won't steal cars which are not available in MY . Fyi , heard that CR-V are "hot" there . be careful :)
Ichibawa 5th Gear December 5, 2009 Share December 5, 2009 Usually there is this list of hot cars that are wanted by foreign importers so the types of cars that are being stolen depend on market demand. If your car is not the type that they are looking for they usually wouldn't take a second glance. However driving big luxury cars do expose you to being mob by robbers or other opportunist. Car is one thing, family safety is another. As the other bros said, buy a steering lock which resembles a bat and only go to crowded places.
Fcw75 Hypersonic December 5, 2009 Share December 5, 2009 Suggest you dun do that, somemore you are alone. Will be a magnet for crime.
Nikicat Neutral Newbie December 5, 2009 Share December 5, 2009 I heard this story once that a M'sian person wanted to buy a second hand luxury car in KL and was shown 2 cars (BMW 5 Series and Lexus GS300) by the 2nd hand dealer. Same age but BMW was cheaper...strange right. Upon closer inspections, the BMW had a SG license plate while the Lexus had a M'sia plate. Appears the dealer forgot to 'clean' up the BMW....can't confirm if this story is true though.

Buzzzz Clutched December 5, 2009 Share December 5, 2009 I guess there is nothing such as absolutely safe to drive north etc.. there are simply too many factors at play.. have u taken enough precautions, alert and stay always from strangers n most impt, are u one of the random target pick by the bad guys, which is luck.. i guess most of bros here will take nec precautions etc, to reduce all the risk of problem when go north, its the only best thing we can go.. oh ya, convoy is good idea. safter when stay closer to watch out one another.. but better dun all E class and give them a good reason to smile.. Civic2000 Supercharged December 5, 2009 Share December 5, 2009 Protons hot with Malaysian car thieves. Thieves are stealing them for spare parts...... The hottest cars in Malaysia are not BMW or Mercedes. They are Protons - at least to the thieves in Malaysia, according to the report. Malaysian Police said 5290 units of Proton cars were stolen in the first 10 month of this year..... The above was reported in The New Paper of today.
