Merry Christmas.

After last 2 biddings where COE inched up, yet dealers reduced prices or maintain status quo, what is the likely outcome for Dec 2nd bid to end 2009?

Seems like a good time to buy from AD, since many have reduced prices lately.

I think it will trend down this round.

Hopefully it can crash.

To understand the trend of COE prices we have to understand the Singaporean Car owner.

I predict the following events in next year COE market :

a. COE Quota will be reduced - this is a no brainer as it is already expected.

b. More car owners will change their cars in 2010 - watch out those Y 2005 owners. Traditionally, they will change car in 2008 - the 3-yr itch. But Financial Crisis - so they lan lan drive on. The next is 5-yr itchier itch - They will change + those who bought in 2007 will also change because Economic condition will improve from 2010 = a Double Whammy.

2005+2007 change Qty > 2010 COE Quota.

c. COE will HIT > $30k ++

Therefore, if you want to buy Car, now is the last chance...

Actually if all the World Governments just leave the Economy alone, our STI can go to <1000 pts.

Therefore the stock market in 2009 is Artifically stimulated by Printed Money - that does not have its weight in Gold to support its value. It does not represent the real market condition. Luckily, the whole damn world is affected - so each country can print as much money as they want and the Exchange rate does not go like Indonesia in 1998...

Then again, the Stock Market is nothing more than a Global Casino...

but if the BODs and major shareholders' stock value does not improve, the job market will not recover...

What a lousy world we live in...
