Nani Neutral Newbie January 6, 2010 Share January 6, 2010 HI Would like to drive up North but am not comfortable in parking our ride on the main island and take a boat elsewhere (eg. Tioman). Is Pangkok also the same? Do we have to park our car on the main land? Also, would like to know if Kuantan is similar to Desaru or Port Dickson? Have drove to Malacca, KL, Genting, Cameron Highlands, Port Dickson & Desaru before...hence not sure where else are the to go Any other suggestions besides the places that I've mentioned above. Thanks in advance :) ↡ Advertisement

Dwoon 1st Gear January 6, 2010 Share January 6, 2010 See you've not done Penang. It should be interesting. See if any interests you :- Laketown Resort? Colmar? Kijal/Trengganu/Redang ? Langkawi ? Frasers ?
Nani Neutral Newbie January 6, 2010 Author Share January 6, 2010 Is an easy drive on NSH, Port Dickson is after Malacca but before KL exit. (Sori, can't remember the name of the exit). I would say facilities is good, the resort is quite big. Try to choose the room facing the sea with no blockage by the other rooms. We went during school holidays, thus the breakfast queue was very long :(. They have two swimming pools, the one near the coffe house are more children friendly, whereas if for couple, they have another one quieter near the rooms. Take note that they have two carparks. The big one is across the road and another smaller one near the hotel lobby. If you do not get a cp lot near the lobby, you might have to park across the road. Overall, worth a visit if you want try something new like hotel on stilts :) * We drove over to Legends Resort too to have a look, although is on stilts too, but Legends is more concrete feel whereas Avillion gives you a more relaxing mood. Langkawi ? Frasers ? Hi thanks, have flew to Penang last year but not drive there. Won't want to go Penang again as I find it boring. Your suggestion sounds good, care to share more details on what is there to do at the above places? For Redang, do we have to park the car on the mainland and take a boat to the island? Many thanks :)
Maverickchua Neutral Newbie January 6, 2010 Share January 6, 2010 looks like you have been to most of the place along the west coast. You should try the East coast side. It is more fun and less commercial. Kuantan is a good place. Around Kuantan, there are Charating and Bukit Gambang resort (http://html.bgrc.com.my/) If you are adventurous enough you can try lake kenyir resort (http://www.lakekenyir.com/), from there you can drive along a new highway to Cameron Highland....the scene is fantastic

Ben5266 Supercharged January 6, 2010 Share January 6, 2010 You might want to check this out, Swiss Garden Golf Resoft & Spa Damai Laut. http://www.damailaut.com/ it is on the main land site, facing Pangkor Island. At night, can drive to Kampung Koh (40min drive) for seafood dinner. BEST!!!
Dwoon 1st Gear January 6, 2010 Share January 6, 2010 Resort is pretty nice..... but its out in the middle of nowhere. Unless you eat in, the closest town is like 40 mins drive away. Alos, the mossies are horrendous there. At the restaurant that is at the beach, my daughter got badly bitten even though heaps of mossie coils were placed. Repellent didn't work too..... worse, the bites were infectous and they were more like boils with pus. Just be careful and be prepared if going there. Dwoon 1st Gear January 6, 2010 Share January 6, 2010 Like Tioman, you'll need to park on the mainland and take a ferry across. Too much to write on the various places/resorts. You can do a search online and all will surface.

Maverickchua Neutral Newbie January 6, 2010 Share January 6, 2010 Hi Can share if Kuantan similar as Desaru? Have you stayed at Swiss Garden before? Isn't just like another Rasa Sentosa resort? Many thanks :) Kuantan is very different from Desaru. I have to been both the places but I still prefer Kuantan. There is plenty to do in Kuantan. Swiss Garden is more for family oriented and it come with a price. Pretty popular with Singaporean. If you not travelling with family you can try some of the resort in Cherating but is further away from Kuantan town. There are plenty to do in Kunatan. The beach is good although not as perfect as Redang. Plenty of hermetic crab. Around Kuantan you can visit the turtle sanutuary which is about 20 mins drive towards cherating (just next to club med). You can also visit one of the waterfall call Pandan waterfall. Seafood is good if you know where the local goes. 2 big shopping centre if you are bored with beaches. Lingamair Neutral Newbie January 6, 2010 Share January 6, 2010 Swiss Garden in Kuantan is very similar to Palm Resort in JB, or even Awana in Genting. Hyatt also quite nice, similar style. I like this seafood restoran in Kuantan, called Pak Su. Aside, anyone here driven to Langkawi before? ↡ Advertisement
